Steyr LP50 HP?

Able to hold sub 3/4" at 50 - 55 yards shot from a Pistol vise you can hit a penny every time when there's no wind. Most fun to take out 3 pest birds at 45 yards in less than 1 second. A very nice pistol to complement the Steyr Hunting5 automatic and PRO-X.

Dug my LP50 HP out.

I had not shot this pistol for a couple of years. I got it out last night and again this morning. It is simply amazing. I took the red dot (fast fire) this morning and put a 4x32 Simmons on it. Had it sighted in at 13 yards (depth of my walk-out basement range). Big grin!

I'm going to do a little chronograph work with it. I also have a very sweet match dot red dot scope that I might put on instead of the magnification. I hate those narrow field of views with long-eye relief pistol scopes.

This is the only PCP I own now.

I appreciate Navenssen (Eric) for introducing me to Steyr products, specifically the Hunter Scout and the LP50 HP.

Went down and removed the 4x Simmons. Put on the Match Dot that I had forgotten about. Much better!

Here's a picture with the Match Dot. I was shooting from 13 yards. That was the first shot at 11PM. The next 5 are at 5 from the red bullseye. Without adjusting I shot another group at the black edge at 7PM with a dot reticle. You can see I need to adjust the sights a bit. I've put 8-9 magazines (40-45 shots) through the pistol from a full 200 bar and down to 100 bar now. These two groups were with Crossman Premeir hunting (HP) pellets from Walmart.

I'm sure if I took a better rest, especially with the back of the pistol, I could tighten that group up quite a bit.

So much fun.

Just picked up cavedweller’s LP50 HP. I can’t believe he let it go! Even with a Tanto in place it still puts out a very healthy crack. Only airgun I have that will make my ears ring. I’m sure it is due to the three ports on top. Would be great if someone would consider making a 3D printed cover to slide down or snap over the barrel to cover them up??? If done right it could easily be installed and removed without leaving any blemish. Any of you 3D printer guys have interest?

@stoutblock what I do is use strong transparant tape to cover these holes. I place the tape on the barrel. It holds on the regular LP50 but on the HP50 version I now using stronger tape and 2 layers if possible. Because the LP50 HP is loud!

The Moderator adapter is really needed for the HP. BTW i'm waiting on the cilinders so these are missing in the picture.

I've shot about 100 rounds with the LP50 HP now. The original medium grip was simply too small so I picked up a Large and it fits my hand perfect. The picatinny rail was too long and was covering up the first port so I machined it a bit shorter. I've only plinked at 10 meters but this pistol is damn accurate! I noticed the group starts to drop if the pressure gets below 120-140 BAR so the shot count is moderate. I have 5 mags so 25 shots is about right for one cylinder.

View attachment 44307View attachment 44322View attachment 44336I really like my Steyr LPS custom. It’s got a shroud and it’s really quiet. Here’s some groups I just shot this evening. It’s my favorite pistol by far ( even though it’s a mini rifle without a butt stock!) lol. It loves the JSB 10.34 grain pellet. I really like the 5 shot stick magazine. Shooting was off of bags and bench. A.Z. did the custom work, he joined the two air tubes and made the shroud. I really like this style of grip, it’s not too big and my hand can adjust to it in different positions when shooting off the bags. There’s quite a few different choice’s of grips I think. Including ones that you carve to fit your hand.
Excellent indeed!!👍

The Steyr dealer told me that the concept version wouldn't be available for some time, so I ordered the 7,5 joule version, a moderator adapter and a base for a red dot. (Approx 80 shots pr fill this one).
The HP version isn't that attractive for me, due to low shot count and maybe not so back yard friendly - even with a moderator.

An LP50 owner here. If I were to pay, almost $2000 more for a HP version, I am not about to start using adapters and tape. I had better be right out of the box!

Steyr just does not get it, they should offer these guns threaded and with an optics rail! These guns are not used by 10 meter shooters, but by fun shooters, and are mostly use them in back yards!

I contact Steyr about this, and looks like this will never happen!
Best fittings offers an inexpensive moderator adapter and a properly adjusted mag feed quiets the rest

I took some Dynamat material and incapsulated it in some ballistics cloth then retained it with some small Velcro straps to the top of the barrel. Totally eliminates the noise from the ports. Now the pistol combined with the Tanto is totally acceptable for back yard shooting.
