Steyr LP50 Standard?

What velocity do they put out? I have read they come out of the box shooting 7+ gr. pellets over 500fps or they can't be adjusted to do more than mid 400s. A 7.9gr at 500fps or so is all I would need. More than that is okay but, even though I live rural, I want to keep the sound as low as reasonably possible.

Reliability?

Is Pilkguns the best place to purchase?

Any option for an "over the barrel" scope mount?

Uses: I want a high-quality air pistol, firearms trainer, fun plinker, and to shoot starlings ( & similar size pests ) in style

Pilkingtons is probably the only warranty authorized place to buy the LP50. I would ask them what the power range is on their current in stock model HP and non HP and there's the HP. There is a point where the semi auto wont function reliably if it's power is set too high especially for the standard version.

There are several scope mounting options ask Pilkingtons.

You are going to love the LP50 and suggest the HP version for pesting.

I sent Pilkguns an email. As for power, the pesting I do with an air pistol, my IZH-46M and my previously owned FWB65s had enough power for starling sized pest at 20yds. I even took a squirrel with a scoped IZH shooting 7.33gr in the 480s fps. Granted, it was only around 15yds but that would be max distance for them and would also be rare.

Best place to order extra mags? I haven't even checked on them yet

I have ordered extra magazines from Neal Stepp however I dont have his contact info now its been many many years. You may try Penchetta see if he can give any deals or inquire with Krale just for the magazines. Worst case Pilkingtons maybe Scott hopefully can make you a deal with many extra mags just call him and ask. I would order 10 or 20.

I think the standard version is plenty as long as you get the long barrel rather than the compact. My LP50 (4/2019) came shooting the 7.72 JSB Match pellets at 524 fps avg over a 10 shot string. I use it for 10M target, A/P silhouette out to 20 yards and plinking. It has good knock down power on the rams at 20, no experience with pesting. I mainly shoot with a red dot but have mounted a scope for a bench rest silhouette. I have turned up the velocity to 550 for a 7.0 pellet and never has an issue with cycling. The mount below is capable of mounting either a dot or scope. The EVO 10 shows my mounting of a red dot closer to the shooter than the Steyr barrel mount, which I have also used in the past. With the EVO, the cocking arm has to be accounted for. The Steyr mount also works on the LP50 but limits position to the barrel shroud.

The bottom pics show the Steyr mount. It has only one cross slot so can be used for short tube type (Bushnell TRS-25) and reflex type dots (FastFire III shown). I have used 2 of these for scope mounting.

Here is one of mine that had already been hot rodded to shoot 50+ yards that had taken out a lot of birds too many to count up to 60 yards with this one. Dovetails we're machined for scope mount. Dont laugh it's a UTG Leapers Bug Buster with under 5 yard close focus and it's small enough thats why. Putting a custom Shop reticle Leupold EFR 3-9x33 later. Trigger blade grossly canted perfectly to contour my trigger finger for quickest semi auto shooting that's why it looks so weird.

Be sure to give Neal Stepp a call at 817-595-2090 for a quote before you make a decision on the LP50. He is the owner of International Shooters Service in Ft Worth, Tx. This is a one man shop that he has owned for 3 decades. His knowledge of rimfire and airgun shooting disciplines is second to none. I would bet he could offer you the best deal available and ongoing support.

If you want more power, they used to sell a shilouette version

The LP-S Silhouette model was discontinued about 2016. You are correct, they shot the 7g pellet at 600 + fps thru a 10" (IIRC) barrel. They used a 5 shot magazine which was cycled by a side lever. They came with no sights but had a 11mm rail on the action and front barrel weight for mounting the sight/scope of choice. I had one for awhile before regrettably selling it. Luckily it went to forum member davelarson here on AGN. Also the grip was changed to a more upright position (think 1911) from the "standard" 10M target grip that better supported the one handed shooter. The new grip had a much better feel for shooting two handed. They hardly ever come up on the used market, don't think I've ever seen one f/s.
