Steyr Pro X .22; I Like It!

After initial testing and familiarization with this semi auto...a completely new concept to me, one of the reasons I wanted to try one, just for something different, without getting into a lot of technical performance data...I've seen enough to render my take on this particular Pro X .22. I liked the Bullpup configuration size and appearance from the start the "non-gaudy" nice walnut stock with no advertisements carved in it, the fit & finish as reported by other owners is top notch...having a professional non cookie-cutter feel and appearance...all metal parts were de-burred and correctly chamfered...one of my pet peeves...I'm not crazy about the silver trigger blade...looks out of place and should be black but that's just me...the high and low scope mounting options are a nice touch and the way the accessory bipod mounts on the low scope dove tail and stows folded back is just genius...really nice! The magazines are a big deal in this platform with an internal spring that needs to pre-loaded by winding when inserted in the gun...very easy well designed and has a solid nice feel to it...was easy to get used to it...the entire back magazine area has a mechanical appeal to it. I shot around 700 pellets and had no malfunctions I didn't cause myself by not seating the pellets below flush...CP domes and JSB 18s fit TIGHT in my MAGs and not likely to fall out...Now the negative stuff...my particular barrel fouled badly and quickly and needed polishing, I'm not completely satisfied with the accuracy yet but feel better yet to come, it didn't like CP domes as I hoped it would...had a lot of wind during testing and the worst thing (for me) was the weight of the trigger on this short gun sub dime groups at 30 yds were rare...I like to shoot sitting not benched and a heavy trigger is poison...reference my Taipan Veteran. The POP under ear during the firing cycle requires an ear plug for long shooting sessions...a little thing and I would prefere a threaded barrel and not an adapter. Not having to cock for 10 shots is nice but for precision shooting I would run out of breath and have to lower the gun anyway...This gun is thoroughly enjoyable to shoot (I heard that a lot and its true) and if the trigger can be improved has the potential to be really special! Oh...the 200b to 120b yelds 65 to 80 shots depending on HSA setting...love that. Worth the high price tag? Taipan Veteran still my top choice...the one I have, the Pro X is a nice interesting fun gun and is gunna' be a keeper for me.

Nice I love hn 18 grain pellets in mine , I found they most accurate and no too small diameter where they fall out of magizine ,
If you decide to polish your barrel , make sure you set up the barrel to mag with no clearence and still wont bind you do this with the barrel retainer screws one screw moves barrel one way the other moves it other way and one lockes it , I did polish mine new and origanally thought all three screws just held barrel in place lol. I learned alot about this platform , I love mine , it is a pellet gun not a hi powered gun like my others , but workmanship , design and cleaning is top notch , Steyer has always produced quality powder burners which is why I had gotten it , and is my only semi auto gun , only mod I did do to mine is instlall a longer hammer spring , not for more power but so I can adjust power on the fly with turning adjuster with my fingers other then using an allen wrench ,
