Stoeger Stoeger scout and ranger good or pass?

These are made by Snowpeak and have a pretty good reception here by most users. I dont have one myself, but PA had them for like $280 out the door not too long ago and I was very tempted. The Ranger is probably best for the bench, and the Scout better for walking around type pesting. I think 22Cal is the best option, too bad they dont make a 177 version of the Scout.

I was considering the scout in .25. what pellets brand/weight?
if you're dead set on .25 go for it. Just want to let you know, its a bit anemic in .25cal. .22 is a MUCH better option. You'll get better trajectory with the extra 100fps and a not insignificant higher number of shots.

Me and a friend are gonna try our hands at iguana hunting south florida. Whats the speed and shot count on the .25?

About 850-860fps with 25g JSB, and about 27 shots per fill. If you are shooting up into trees at anytime I would think more about choosing a 22Cal. It is much safer to shoot a 15.9g Hades at high angles compared to a 26g Hades. If you are only going to be doing longer shots at ground level a 25Cal would reach out further.

We have forum members that do a lot of dragon hunting in FL. They can speak more about their journey through pcps; but I know a couple have actually gone all the way up to 30Cal only to drop down to 177. The 22Cal Scout gets about 40 shots per fill and does around 870-880fps with 18g JSB.

Stoeger advertises .25 "up to 800fps with lead pelllet" I've seen the ranger do more than that firsthand. High 840s with 25.39 pellets. Low 700s with 33.95. The shot count wasn't terrible I've seen much worse.

@JaceSpace1369 shoots iguanas as a job. .177 obliterates iguanas just fine.

With the .22 you can easily send them to the netherealm with 15.9 or 18.1gr pellets.

As to @MongooseV8 point of safety. I 100% agree. I'm converting my 25s to 22 for this exact reason.

My buddy has the stoeger xm1 .25 although it is an anemic .25 it is perfect for iguanas. It prefers to shoot the 25.39gr jsb and it can easily take down iguanas even out to 60-70yds as long as you don't have too much wind to push you with the low velocities. The low velocity helps with not overpenetrating or still having tons of velocity after going through them.

All the Scout .25’s I sell are set to shoot 860-870 with 25.4g out the door as a standard at AR. As a matter of fact I write it on the box. When the 150bar reg and port alignment is on that is what it does at a surprisingly low hammer hit to make cocking easier. ;) Stoeger pcp’s are known to have a lot of hammer over travel out of the box. Meaning you can back it off 4-5 turns and still shoot same velocity. This is already adjusted when sent.

Yeah , I don’t feel my scout .25 is anemic at all.
Right at 40 fpe. It’s just right. Great barrel and trigger👍🏻

A used BullShark or P35 in .177 … is about the same gun as the Ranger /Scout in bullpup form and .177
Yeah the issue with the Bullshark for me is 2 fold
1) I am a Lefty, pretty sure the mag will be right in my cheek
2) I am ass deep in bull pup's and Tactical style guns right now.. Looking for a traditional style stocked rifle

Just so you know you can switch cocking locations and although the mag is on the right, as long as you don't get the custom printed ones, these don't stick out enough to bother ya. Just passing info along.
