Stoeger XM1 .22 review

I got my XM1 22 suppressed yesterday. Boxed well. For a newb, not good instructions on the trigger or how the air port works. Came at 2500 psi, max is recommended at 2900. I changed the grip to the smaller size. Removed the yellow butt stock spacer for better fit. I couldn’t figure out how to remove both spacers and still get the recoil pad to fit. Mounted a Hammer 3x9x32AO on it this morning. Was waiting on a Hawke 4x12x40 AMX to arrive, but wanted to shoot it. The Hawke arrived this evening, of course. I’ll mount it in the morning. The gun is very very light. The ergonomics of the stock is really nice. I put the higher cheek piece on, good fit. The trigger is smooth but a little long. I’m going to try and adjust it and I think that will make a big difference. The action; when using the magazine, it comes with one, 7 round capacity, it seemed rather rough pushing the pellets in. Nice grip on the bolt handle. Using the single shot tray was much smoother. Sighted it in at 25 yrds and was shooting dime groups at 35. Likes the thr jsb exact jumbo diablo. I shot 4 clips (28 shots) and pressure went from 2900 to 1400. I have not put it on the chrony yet but will get that info posted soon. The stock may seem cheap due to how light it is but the gun handles and shoots really well. Dispatched it’s first tree rat yesterday at 25 yrds, no problem. It does come with an adapter for filling the gun. Two small Picatinny rails, one has places to hold 3 extra magazines. Numerous O rings and a single shot tray.

Congratulations!

Try this before taking the Hawke scope out of the rings. IF it only needs a hair of lift to clear that front AO parallax.

Mark the scope rail with masking tape flush against the edges of the scope rings but not on the rings just the guns scope rails front and rear rings both sides fore and aft tape to mark.

Remove all the scope rings dovetail clamp screws. Scope stays in the rings don't take that out don't even loosen them.

Cut pieces of unneeded credit card or gift card plastic to fit between the tape on the rifle's scope rail. A thin coaster may work. You are shimming the underportion of both of the scope rings a little. Stack more Cut to fit shim material if a little more height is needed or use thicker material. Sandpaper or use a file to do final touches to shims. Color with a Sharpe on exposed areas if you want.

It's a PCP so it's safe to try.

I put a temporary scope on it till my rings get here. None available locally. I want to take the front sights off but can’t find a star bit small enough to fit. Shooting quarter size groups at 35 yrds with Crosman premium 14.3 pellets. I give an update after I get my “real “ scope mounted and find out how to adjust the trigger. I’ll also break out the JSB pellets.
