Stolen airgun share thread

Thought I’d ask if anyone has had airgun stuff stolen from them. If you, please share your experience.

I thought I’d create this thread since a few members have told me they had stuff, guns in particular, stolen. It could be something was stolen out of your car, or perhaps a certain seller or buyer royally messed with you, but either way you should share your experience here.

PS: scoundrels make it suck for the good guys.

I came across an ad on CL a few years ago for an anniversary HW97. It was worded oddly, something about how his brother used it for competitive shooting.

I talked to the kid and set up a time. Got to his crappy house in a ruff part of San Diego and he brings out a rusty HW97 in green laminated stock.

So I asked if he had any others. He says a few and brings out a Ripley AR5, a rusty TX200SR and something else no kid would havebut I forget what. I say I’ll take them but need to go get more cash.

I got back in my car and told my wife I was about to buy a bunch of rare stolen guns and that I didn’t know who they belonged to but it wouldn’t be hard to track them down.

To wrap this up without going to much longer. I bought the guns. Made a few phone calls and before I even got home was talking to the correct owner that had them stolen five years earlier. He even had a post with pictures and ser# on the old yellow.

Kid had a few more and the original owner tried working with the cops but they wouldn’t do anything. He ended up buying his own guns back from the kids.

Most were badly rusted but the Ripley was stainless and looked great, still had air after five years. I brought it home and shot a few groups before handing it over. I didn’t want to give that one up. 😂

I had the local Mafia working for me at my night club before I retired. You know either hire them or be taxed by them. Yea they are for real throughout the entire USA and territories. Good to be in good terms with such wonderful people with far reaching connections. Just be careful what you wish for. $hit can really happen especially when you have helped them financially.

Don't believe what you see in the movies. They can be really good friends like normal Human beings. Have your back always. Even when bad things happen things seem to get fixed by themselves when the police can't do anything or don't care or are too lazy. FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE. They don't even bother them at All from what I seen. They have people inside government inside feds inside police your favorite up and coming Governor or Mayor may be connectedBorveven one of the heads. That's modern day reality.

Just curious what kind of prices did each of the rusted stolen guns fetch? I had 75 guns stolen roughly 2 years ago including unique irreplaceable custom built firearms mostly select fire with high capacity drum magazines including packaged build your own kits. Most notable AIRGUNS a red Carbine 177 Thomas FT with a threaded barrel and noticeably oversized breech and a 22 Daystate Redwolf HP that were the $2500 and over meaningful ones. The rest were $2000 and under. Too many to list. I already replaced mostly all but theThomas over the past 6 months. Not a peep on anything since. I am withholding all other info on the rest that were stolen as to not alert any potential associates who have them in their possession. Can you believe it? None of the 75 have ever been recovered nor have any of my associates know of any movement of anything either. I had filed the police report and they simply would not believe what I had and showed very little interest in pursuing this case. I just told them I really am genuinely concerned that the firearms especially the MANY MANY MANY AR15s and sniper rifles and various handguns could be used as tools for mass killings if they ended up in the wrong hands even used as quiet execution style weapons. They didn't care and just laughed and didn't even let me finish talking and left. REALLY!

I honestly don’t remember what I paid, it wasn’t a huge amount. The owner made me whole and was happy to get his stuff back, mainly the Ripley. He had already been taken care of by the insurance five years earlier. I ended up with the green HW97 for my trouble. It was ruff but it had a Venom kit in it and shot amazing. I ended up selling it cheap to a new field target shooter.

Years ago a shop I am friends with got robbed. They smashed a truck into the roll up door and grabbed all the airguns they could. They also grabbed the owners extremely custom springer.

A few years later a young guy walks into the gun shop with the springer. I forget if he wanted it serviced or to sell. Who knows how he ended up with it. Obviously he didn’t know that it was from that shop or what he actually had.

i forget the details but I think the owner let him pick a new rifle off the wall in exchange for the springer.

I’ve never heard of a firearm theft being passed on by the police, especially since in Hawaii and California and I think all 50 states it is illegal to not report a gun theft: as in a felony. You have a minimum amount of time to even report it too, depending on the state and local laws. They would have wanted serial numbers and where you purchased them/receipts, and would even go to the gun store to get the serial numbers. Police don’t mess around with stolen guns. Also, if you falsify the theft report you are under penalty of perjury. That is how serious lost/stolen guns. If the police actually shrugged off what you are saying, you can call back the police office and get those police under review. Big deal. I’ve literally never heard of something like this, especially because police love recovering firearms, including stolen ones, as it is extremely good PR and great for the community (bad guys shouldn’t have guns).

Very odd

I wouldn’t go outside of the law in any case - for myself or with another person/entity. I am one of those old school constitutionalists that love law and order, and I prefer when the justice system handles a case. I know that often police and the justice system fails, but most of the time bad guys do end up in the justice system and do get some form of punishment. Even if they don’t get caught in your particular case, bad guys usually steal more than once, and eventually that person will get what is coming with a judge.

The problem with going outside the law, other than it being illegal, is that often the punishment doesn’t fit the crime. What is nice about a judge and a jury is that you get due process - you might not like how that process is conducted, but it is the process nevertheless. The mafia does a lot of messed up immoral things too, including drugs and prostitution and murdering people, so finding your own justice illegally with the mafia is rather contradictory in its formation: have an immoral judge conduct an illegal judgement on someone for doing something bad.

Exactly what I thought too but they didn't believe it same as when I reported a missing persons when an ex GF disappeared who was living with me for 7 years when she disappeared 125k cash went missing from the safe the cops wouldn't do a report on that either saying she probably chose to be missing from me and don't have proof she took it from the safe that only she and I knew the combition of and no proof of the actual exact denomination since I said around 125k and stated between 122k and 127k thereabouts.

One of my guns may have been used in a murder after that but the police don't want to talk to me be use of my Mafia involvement after a death due to normal causes while in their custody connected to me. Wasn't me.

We need the Star Chamber. If you don’t know what that is, watch the movie, circa 1980’s.

Thats what we need

over time, the whole “eye for an eye” and “do onto others as you want done to you” has been clouded over by stupid laws that protect the wrong doers, the evil.

I found out If someone trespasses into my property and drowns in my pond, I can get sued because no matter how many signs I have posted PRIVATE PROPERTY NO TRESPASSING, not everyone can read!

i know not related to airgun theft, but you get the gist.

You should see how many different judges I flipped the bird to in court. I don't believe it one bit anymore. I go through the system for documentation whenever possible then give it some time only to find out nothing was done and that's why my friend I have no faith in the current system. I believe in phone calls though. As a last resort.

The system is broken and does not work. They don't give a rats azz about anyone.

They just go to work for a tax funded paycheck. Who pays their checks? Yup!

If you been through as many CRAP as I had you would have cracked and gone POSTAL already.

Last time I had an ongoing ridiculous court appearance AGAIN not by choice as a witness I hate courts the defendant told the judge that I had direct mafia involvement and paid for a hit (their hit THATS REAL BS) then I was discredited and really wondered why I wasted my time and day complying with the court sheriff summons in the first place. Such ridiculousness. I couldn't believe it. I wasnt questioned even further and wasted even more time the following months of appearances I told the judge so do you really believe I hired a hit they are still alive and well now as you can see they are still showing up in court. When they were asked if I had attempted to contact them in any way shape or form they said no. Judge said well there you go. 😆

Well I would proceed to the police station and file a report that you tried to notify the police about both events and that they didn’t care. That way if a weapon is used against someone, especially in a murder trial, you have evidence that it wasn’t on your person. If you don’t trust the legal system to work for you, then you should certainly expect it to work against you when you don’t properly report a lost or stolen firearm (as you said at-15s and “sniper rifles”). If a cop is a bad cop or doesn’t take you seriously because you walked up to him randomly, it is on you to go into the police station and report your stolen weapons and your experience with the cop. Your neck as a firearm owner is on the line, not the cops.

They showed up to one of my houses 6 of them cops including a woman cop to investigate. I had attempted to contact them after that many times to follow up and never bothered to get back to me because they're too lazy or don't care or most likely didn't believe it.

What you think and real life are vastly different my friend. Thats exactly why there is Exactly the need for such alternative government and you have to live through it as I have to believe it.

What you think is right through the system will fail you. You need to stick your finger in the outlet or fire palm your hand on that open flame stove for 30 seconds and watch the 3rd degree blisters pop out and bear it in order to wake up.

Another interesting fact is the police once came to visit me at one of my companies and was asked to search the premises because a person who was protesting another of my owned companies was protesting in front of this one which I was present at that accused of pressing the barrel of a racket and loaded pistol to his head allegedly asking him if today was a good day to die in broad daylight in front of many people who weren't even there for questioning.

I ROFL as they searched the premises for that alleged gun by just doing a walk through without touching a single thing for less then a minute YUP and didn't even bother to ask to take my statement and one said he MUST have been boozing or what after I said SERIOUSLY? COME ON MAN!
