I'm guessing storing a mag with 1 or 2 pellets in it (thinking Crown) is a no no as far as spring longevity goes. I know it's not a problem with centre fire guns.

I wonder: Is the spring in the mag really going to wear out?

Not a problem as far as I've read on this forum from members who understand such matters. Store all my mags fully loaded, less one in chamber. WM

I have a mk2 600mm. 25 and have been keeping all my mags full since I got it, 2 years ago , no problemo.
You can loosen or tighten your spring tension by taking it apart, gentle, and repositioning the catch on the bottom of the mag. Turn your mag over and note where the catch end of the spring to start. You can mark it if you like with a white pen. Then turn the allen set screw and lift out the internal pellet indexing . From then on you will need to find the catch hole you had and wind the spring 1 revolution to load the spring. Put it back together.
It will take alittle playing with and some time to figuire it out but in awhile, you'll be doing it blind folded.

I wouldn't do it with AEA mags. The spring is not of good quality and leads to mag failures in my guns.

I've always kept a mag loaded and sitting on the table by my back door. You never know when that motion detector is going to go off and announce the presence of a raccoon.
I had 2 foxes waiting in the back yard for the dog a while back. He wouldn't have stood a chance.

I’ve had some mags stored loaded (99.9% of the time) for years now. They work perfectly. Spring steel does not wear out for a long time.

I’m two months into a long term test with a CARM in my P35 25 cal. No issues.
When I finish a shooting session I load up a mag, shoot the first one and put the safety on. Then I top off the rifle with ait and store it for its primary role as pest control.

One of ours is 10lbs, we joke that he’s prey size. He once got in a tussle with a baby gator. Luckily the baby gators mom wasn’t close.

I unload my mags after pesting or hunting but I do understand those that keep them loaded and at the ready. I would assume the springs could lose their memory/tension but probably easily replaced if so.

PB and airgun mags use spring steel - shouldn't be a problem to leabve mags loaded over a very long period of time.

I think the only time I would really care was if i was a competitive speed shooter. To have the piece of mind my equipment was running at absolute pinnacle.
For my application the cycle time I use typically doesn’t require a whole heck of a lot of effort on the magazine. Because of that I think me noticing a decrease in performance could take a very long time.
