Sheridan Strange marking on Sheridans

Is the plural of "Sheridan", "sheridie?
Anyway,I have two Sheridans with some odd markings, and maybe folks could tell me if these were made by the manufacturer, or placed there by some long departed owner. I can't figure out head from tail on these. There is no other marking on either rifle except the Racine stamp. I am kind of trying to figure out the vintage of the guns

I've never seen anything like that on a Sheridan. Perhaps from a repair and return to customer?

The receiver on that one looks to be from the sixties, but more pics are needed to pin it down exactly.

This site documents the features from the different years. - Sheridan Blue Streak Serial Numbers - keenanalysis

Thanks for that. Mine both appear to be from the 50's, according to the "change log". Both have slim trigger guards held with two phillips screw, no rivet (or evidence of there ever being one), Both have ribbing striations on the receiver top, and both have the "sculpted" front sight. You are likely correct about the weird looking stampings. Boy, I'd be upset if a repair guy went and made a big ugly stamp on my rifle!

I have never seen those markings. It's interesting that you have two of them. They must have gone through the years together?
What other changes do they have, Tang safety, or rocker? Are the sights soldered on? Stock shapes are an indicator of year as well.

Here are a pair of Bluestreak's a 72 and a 55.
Notice the front site on the 72 was replaced with a fifties type by Tim at Mac1 and the plastic hand guard on the 55 came from a guy in Ann Texas who makes them.

Glad to be of help. It sounds like you've found a couple of treasures.

We'd really like to see more photos. Hint, hint... ;)

Here are 4 photos of the two Quebec rifles. I have one currently torn down for a resto, so just the basics are shown. The other I think I will leave as is. The safety, ribbing etc can be seem on both of them. I just mounted the williams peep on the one rifle yesterday; it needs to be removed now for brass finishing and painting.
