Strelok Pro no more?

Is this for real? Why would a Defence Force use Apps and not their own Mil Spec equipment.

Are there any other ballistics calculators available that focus on PCP airguns?

“Igor Vladimirovich Borisov is the developer of Strelok and Strelok Pro, mobile phone applications used for ballistics calculations, which have reportedly been used by Russia’s forces in Ukraine.”

Mine is working just fine but likely we won't receive updates for a long time, hope the app at least will work. For alternative try AppliedBallistics, not as slick as Strelok but certainly works very well.

Good catch! I just checked and it is still available at the Google play store. This is the problem when control freaks find out that there are tools out there that can give 'nobodies' an edge, disregarding the logic that certain tools can also give everybody (which includes your own) an edge. I wish I had Strelok when I was an 11B.

Yeah, we did, but we could have always done better. My "1P" unit doesn't exist anymore either. 1/508 is no more, they regimentalized and I think it's the 4/325th now. Bragg has really changed too, the whole Army has, and I will leave it at that.

edit:
WHOA! my bad, the 1/508 made its way back to the 82nd in 2014! I wouldn't have checked if not for this post, so something good came of it. My best friend retired next to Bragg but I haven't been there since he married on post over 10 years ago but I didn't go to the old unit. I had gone back in 1985 or so and it felt like going back to your old Highschool, pretty pointless, you really can't go back. It was fun while it lasted.

This may not be related, but if you have an app on your iPhone and switch to a new device..don't turn in your old device until you've made sure ALL the apps you use actually work after restoring to your new phone.

I made the assumption if an app was on my phone and I did a iCloud backup the app would be saved. Wrong. Only a placeholder to the app on the store is "backed up"..not the app itself.

I learned this with Chairgun. Had it on my iPhone..I did a iCloud backup and restore to a new phone..the backup said success but then I got a "unavailable" message when I tried to use it. This may not happen if you do a phone-to-phone transfer..IDK.

Since Apple and Google can't do financial transactions with the developer anymore, updates will stop and compatibility problems are expected when android or ios firmware upgrades in the future.
On Android, you can still install a 3rd party APK manually, not from the play store. I imagine the developer can still distribute the app this way so it's not the end of the world.
On iOS, you're SOL unless you jailbreak your device but that's obviously not guaranteed.
Will they keep updating the app with no financial incentive is another question. Perhaps they can just reissue the app under a different name and figure out an alternative method of payment, lol.
