Strelok Pro zero offset setting

I’m not quite sure how the zero offset is used in Strelok Pro.

For example, have several pellets on several power settings I use in my Daystate Pulsar. I have chosen 1 pellet and power setting as the “zero” pellet at 25 yards. I have notes as to how to physically adjust my scope for each other pellet and power setting so they would be zeroed at 25 yards. I then use Strelok to load that given pellet’s settings and look at the reticle tool to judge holdover, etc.

To explain - my zero pellet is Hades on high power. If I want to shoot JSB Exacts on low power at 25 yards I adjust the scope up 7 clicks (which would zero it at 25 yards with Exacts on low) and then load my Strelok data and shoot since the rifle is now zeroed at 25 yards with Exacts on low.

Does the zero offset function eliminate the need to physically adjust my scope for each given pellet? Or, is it for something else entirely?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You'll always have to change your turrets if you want to change your POI. The offset lets you compensate for the clicks via the software like you are already doing in your "head". It just adds/subtracts those values right to the click values of your original zero and gives those to you as your adjustment...compensated.

You can see this by setting up the same ammo twice with the same values, just 1 with offset value(s). If your offset ammo is +2 MOA vertical over your standard ammo, when you select a target distance you'll see that the vertical adjustment given for the offset ammo is 2 MOA more than your standard ammo. So, if target range for normal setup is 10 MOA of adjustment off zero, your offset ammo is displayed as 12 MOA vertical adjustment off zero.

Basically, unless I'm mistaken, this lets you take all the fps/grains of the ammo out of the equation and lets you always adjust relative to a zero regardless of what you shoot. Even the same ammo can be set up like this for say a change in POI due to different moderators or the like.

But yea, you always have to move your reticle if you want to move your POI.

Ron,

not sure if you got any further with Strelok. 😊

It's a bit intimidating at first because there is no step-by-step manual, and some terminology in the app might be different than the terminology you are used to.

The big advantage of Strelok Pro over say ChairGun is that you can have several custom "cartridge" programmed into the app for one and the same rifle at the same zero.

Each "cartridge" is a different pellet, or a different power setting (all the same gun, with the same zero).

When you switch pellets, or power settings, all you do is make the switch in Strelok, and the ballistic calculator does the rest, spitting out your shooting solution. 😊

You will not need to keep track of the differences between those pellets and those power settings, because you tell Strelok that when you program the "cartridge" with a certain amount of "offset." (However, it is good to keep a record outside of Strelok in case something gets messed up or you need to reinstall the app.)

Thanks Matthias. I appreciate the help and the info! Igor did send me a big PDF of information about the offset. What you said is exactly right. I do use multiple pellets in the same gun and the zero offset seems to work just fine. There’s a couple of situations where I use “low” power but the standard zero for the rifle is for a “high” setting. In those cases, it’s better to physically adjust the scope since the holdover would put me way down on the reticle. But in some situations, the zero offset is golden!

Thanks for following up!
