Not quite correct, the issue was that there was evidence of the app being used by active forces. It is not the first time that commercially available apps have been used on the front lines. I had to evaluate gun apps which were being used by other organizations in combat zones and compare them with our own calibrated trajectory software. The accuracy was not great, but was good enough to help in aiming several projectiles that they had been adapted for, such as rockets. Not something to be taken lightly, but as the software was already out there, probably a case of locking the stable door after the horse has bolted. The issue is that
after the Russian government decided to give hell to the Ukrainian people —
the Apple app store and
the Google app store
kicked Strelok to hell,
because the app developer has that nationality.
Samsung and Huawei apps stores said, "To hell with deleting apps because of an embargo" — and keep offering Strelok.
A crazy world we live in....

I don't think that is a difference Apple/Google store is a platform no matter of geography Canada-EU or USA...I wonder if that is because you are in Canada? I was under the impression this was kind of a USA problem... I may be wrong.
My comment about being outside the US was prompted by the folks saying that you could setup a VPN and I am under the impression you can set it up to show whatever country of origin you want??? I don't have the skills or interest to do that so I could be completely wrong. My understanding is that the US 'guvment' has dictated that we shall not buy apps that support Russia, so Strelok was removed from the 2 app stores Apple and Google.I don't think that is a difference Apple/Google store is a platform no matter of geography Canada-EU or USA...
I could track a the weather specs in my backhome Eastern EU for years in Yahoo weather app, and the BIG decision makers stopped that couple months ago...I can see for any Western city location but won't work with "unfriendly" countries/locations.....
Don't ask me to judge is this right or not.....if I want Strelok Pro I will get it no matter where...
I'd love to see the evidence suggesting Strelok was utilized. Perhaps some inexperienced recruit tried it, but it's hard to imagine how that news would leak enough to warrant an embargo. Russian sniper squads on the front lines are well-prepared with modern rifles and equipment. It seems improbable that the Russian defense budget would prioritize buying a commercially available app like Strelok, which could easily be hacked. While not an expert, I find it difficult to believe Strelok posed such a significant threat that it was singled out and made unavailable. It appears that practically any Russian app developer had their software removed, irrespective of its purpose.
