It aint. You need the heavy for long mid to heavy slugs for you caliber. The heavy barrels have a higher twist rate. The standards are for pellets which are self stablizing and they can shoot shorter slugs as well. When they get longer the slugs need faster
STX superior 1:24 doesn't even do that great with lighter slugs. I fail to believe even a 28gr slug out of a 1:24 will fly as well and true as it would out of a 1:16-1:17.7 .
Superior pellet is FANTASTIC with pellets. Absolutely poop the bed perfect.
With ONE SLUG. I have found decent results. And it ain't hybrids.
I have seen the exact same gun as mine with a STX Superior heavy (now labeled slug) liner pull 1moa at 100 at the same velocity. Is this the typical result?
I can get hole in hole results at 50 with pellets at 899 fps tune I'm currently using.
I have a 500cc 250bar fill getting me 100+ shots down to 150bar with 25.3s at 899.. my SD is down to 3fps and my extreme is 9.
I give the PW 2 clicks up to 15 and I'm doing the same speed with Baracuda Hunters or 921-930 with hybrids. Over 1" groups. H&N30 at 860 .7-1.2 at 50, hn28 same, zan 26... 2"+ , NSA 26.5 1.5". Now zan 28 at 940-946 fps will do 5"groups. But that gets my shot count in the neighborhood of 50-55 shots as I have to raise the pressure and roll the wheel to 21. And give a tiny bit more juice to the internal screw to get the spread more consistent.
From what I saw with the same exact make, caliber and barrel length, do with those hybrids has me wanting to think maybe it's not just for only heavy slugs.
Either I'm gonna go the cheaper route and just get a slug liner... And stick with .25. Or get the 22 caliber change kit, get a .22 superior slug liner and have a gun capable of launching respectable weight 22 slugs at proepr slug velocities. I know my dl tac can do over 980 with 23-25gr slugs.
