Suggestions for a nice pull-through barrel cleaner for 22 & 25 cal barrel

Thick fishing line with a sharp crease. Send the crease in through the end of the barrel, catch the patch at the breech, and pull it through. If you have an LDC, use a drinking straw to stop from losing the patch. Just run it through the straw first and then on the way out the patch will catch on the straw and everything will come out.

My weedeater uses 105 line and I just cut off a piece(36 inches or so) and take a single edge razor blade and make a split a little from the end and use that to hold the patches. It would work on 80 line also. I also have used the fishing line but for me the weedeater line feeds thru easier? And you can make the split any distant from the end of the line then cut a sharp point a half inch or so from where the patch is.

Tom I've been using a variation of this. I use a line from a weedeater. I'm considering moving to a rod and stiff nylon brush and patches.

For many years the only cleaning tool for all of my 22LR rifles and pistols was 15 lb. nylon monofilament fishing line and a cotton patch. More recently I have used the Napier pull through with either the Napier or cotton patches on all of my air guns. I purchased my Napier products from AOA.

I like to head into the craft section at Walmart and get some fun colored knitting yarn and tie my patches soaked in whatever cleaner you like. (I use Hoppes) and pull it threw a couple of times and let it air dry.
Its cheap overall and nothing abrasive touches the barrel.

Same as above but I tie several patches in intervals with solvent, oil and dry.. I also use a length of lighting pull chain for weight to feed it through or use a vacuum cleaner suction for the same purpose..

+2 on the JL crown saver from Mac1, but lately I have been using my Patch Worm kit. Blackdiesel-Any time I use a rod(one piece) I prefer a crown saver , that is on PB.

Nylon fishing line and shrink wrap. Feed the line through the shrink tube make a loop at one end then heat the shrink wrap. Tie a handle at the end without the loop. Done.

I have been using an Otis brand pull through cleaning system for years since I damaged the crown on one of my 22lr guns. I found something similar sold by Crosman at Walmart. The Otis system has a special short .22 brush that can be pulled through the ejection port of my 22 autoloaders. Like some here I also use weed eater line with a patch. I melted the end of the line to hold the patch and force it against the bore.

I'm still using this simple cleaning rod and it's working well. I posted this video a while back, on how to make it. Basically heavy string and shrink tubing. Hope this helps.

It doesn't damage the rifling or the crown, and it's cheap and easy and portable. I can't see any reason to change it with something more complicated and expensive.
I also do what was recommended earlier: Run a patch through with solvent, let it soak for a bit, then run a couple dry patches through. Repeat until they come out clean.
I do have a fiber optic LED light that I got from the gun shop for inspecting later, if I want.
When you start running any kind of metal down the barrel, you're also introducing the risk of damaging it. It would probably take a lot, but why risk it, when the simple and cheap way works so well?

Patchworm is all you need will clean .177-12ga cheap to 11 bucks and realy gets down in the groves unlike fishing line weed eater line i Also have the crown saver
