Suggestions for a semi-auto pistol for rapid-fire bullseye target work?

I'm looking to add a semi-auto pistol to my collection. On a whim I picked up an Umarex P08 Luger BB pistol (non-blowback) and it is pretty terrible. The trigger is 11+ lbs and such a long pull that I can barely make it through two mags (40 shots) before getting sore, and it is inoperable by the young person I wanted to teach because it takes so much finger strength. Additionally, the sights aren't adjustable and it shoots an inch right at 10 feet.

I'm a bit spoiled, in that I normally shoot air pistols with competition style 2-stage triggers and good sights, like my IZH 46M or Beeman P3. I'd be fine with a trigger that shoots like a typical semi auto PB, just not the horrid double-action only of the Umarex. A model of a PB pistol with a decent realistic trigger would be welcome for rapid-fire practice. I'd like adjustable sights, or a way to mount an optic. Doesn't have to be terribly accurate, but I'd pay more for accuracy.

If I had the budget I'd go for a Steyer LP50, but I can't justify that cost.

Currently I'm looking at a Diana Chaser w/ rifle kit since I know I'll like the trigger, but I'd prefer an actual semi-auto to a bolt-action repeater. I've also considered a Crosman Vigilante as they seem very popular, but reviews make it seem the double action trigger is pretty stiff.

Anyone have a suggestion for a semi with a decent trigger?

If you are considering a double action revolver like the Vigilante, a better quality alternative would be the Umarex Smith and wesson 586/686. Ten shots and a good trigger in DA and SA.
They were popular in a Police Pistol Competition (whatever that is!) a few years ago, mainly because of the magazine size and trigger; I think the quality of construction probably had something to do with it too.

Thanks!
I like the Colt Commander 1911. The same basic comes rebadged in several different brands.
Any suggestions on brand?

The old Crosman 600's are neat semiauto C02 pistols.
These have a decent amount of thwack because they are 22 cal and are reliable.
I bought it for $160 about 10 years ago. I had mine rebuilt by MAC1 airguns and it has run like a top since then. IIRC it was about $100 to rebuild along with some parts replacement including shipping there and back.

I've read that suggestion a few times in older threads. If I could find one, I'd grab it for sure. I love working on my gear, I'd be happy to rebuild one. The "collector" examples with original boxes and such go for silly high prices, but if I can find one under $200 that would be cool.

The Springfield Armory Mil Spec is the best one.
