Suggestions on spicing up your range, cheap ,easy cleanup are the key points ?

Ok, so I am growing tired of paper punching. Its time to spice up things. I have been thinking of taking bags of balloons with me and a 12 v air pump to give me something new to do. To keep tem on the ground I was gonna take a squeezable water bottle as well, so i could add some weight to them prior to filling with air.

I need some more ideas, that are easy to transport, allow easy cleanup of location, and add some pizazz to the experience. I am also considering making drinking glass sized ice blocks and transporting them in my Yeti cooler.

So post up your ideas!! Videos if you have em!

Paintballs! Challenging size, biodegradeable and they explode when hit solidly. Get the brightly colored ones so you can see them better. For more of a challenge, put them on golf tees. I got a bag of 500 for $12 at my local PB shop.

Look up Hickock45 on Youtube. He's got a range with many options, that depending on your location, may be useful. Lots of things that move or make noise.

Paintballs sound good as well. Nice explosion of color and I believe they use washable paint, so you can hose it off. I've seen people use golf tees to hold the paintballs.

Lots of options, just nothing that isn't bio-degradable or that leaves sharp edges.

Thanks guys, Paintballs will work for me, I have seen Hickocks range, and that isnt gonna work for my locations. Maybe a portable dueling tree and some spring pop up ground targets maybe.

Lollipops, you can get them at the Dollar store cheap or in bulk from Amazon. My video is a little slow but it's real time using my Diana 34 .22 springer. Gotta cock, reload and take careful aim. This is off hand from 20 yards. Four out of four but hit that third one a little low.

I saw on here someone used the paint balls and made battleship game targets,
True a little more cleanup but it looked really cool and a lot of fun

The battleship idea didn't work out very well. It took to long setting up the game by using rubber bands to hold the washers to cardboard. When you shoot the paintballs, the pellet would also cut the rubber bands and the washers would fall off the board. So I revised by battleship game in to something different. I made a video of what I did.

Texas hard shell pecans, wild native pecan trees, To hard to small to even bother with eating ,
They explode with a 22 cal or 24 cal pellet hitting them,
Good shooting, major pain picking them up unless your young.
Marbles are fun to shoot, Bet them at hobby lobby cheap.
Went to dollar general and found a chap bad of 75 small plastic army men for a dollar, One shot and there gone, Fly all over the place hard to pick up.

Sugarcubes are fun reactive targets, when you hit them they explode in a white cloud

I like aspirin tablets! Biodegradable and they make a nice white puff of "smoke" when hit.

Dip a toothpick in glue and apply to each tablet. Once dried, place each toothpick in holes drilled in the edge of a 2x4.

makes a nice shooting range and a challenging shot. I like to shoot them at 25 meters.

My very first splatter target was a dueling battleship game. it was challenging even at 7 yards. I found em at walmart.

One of my targets is a crumpled up soup can hanging in a putty trap at 40 yards from my sliding doorwall.

Hit this one dead center first shot so I thought I better take a picture of that!
Standing, shooting through a cracked open door, bracing on the jamb. 40yds.



Crumpling it up makes it more dense and it really flips around a lot when hit. The first hit or two will make it swing back and forth, making hitting again more challenging
Spray it with some fluorescent orange paint and it really stands out even with my eyes.

After running a few mags through the Wildcat it looks like this.



Almost forgot - it make a very satisfying sound when hit!

These are simply galvanized roofing nail caps cost about 10 bucks for a box of 700 (less than a penny per) a little paint and hobby sticks and you have some 2 inch targets that can be inset in larger targets as kill zones or set out by themselves

It's fun to go out to my dad's place and spend time plinking away. Today I surprised him with a game my friends and I used to play in the back yard as kids: Army Man!

I set up some good old fashioned plastic (made in the USA, purchased off of Amazon) army men as 50 yard targets and we took turns with my .25 Wildcat. When hit solidly, those little suckers just seem to suddenly disappear and can typically be found several yards off to the aside or as much as 15 yards down range.

Below are a couple of pics of the more entertaining hits. This is what a couple of solid .25 JSB Heavy MkII hits did to "Radio Guy" and "Bazooka Guy" when when the hit is solid. Broke Bazooka Guy's bazooka pretty much in half

No American troopers were harmed in the making of this fun. These were definitely Bad Guys who'd snuck into the yard and had to be taken out.

We had a great time acting like kids and plan to do it again soon!

My all-time favorite is a box of Cheez-it crackers. Bright yellow square with a nice little hole in center for aim point. Black crosshairs stand out against yellow background very nicely. Use your imagination . Give yourself and the birds a snack and have some fun along the way. Side note. Starrling love them.
