Sheridan Superfun Saturday

Wanted to share a little Veterans Day fun!

The local VFW organized a Turkey Shoot. Now a friend of mine had moved up to PA and they still had "real" turkey shoots there so he clued me in on what they are. THIS one however, was just shooting at paper to win a turkey.

After much debate, I took my Sharp Ace sidelever sporter, a Sheridan Blue Streak and a Daisy 499. It had to be with iron sights, even for the powder burners. The distances were 15 for ag's, 25 for pistols, and 44 yards for any rifle. My buddy went for the Sheridan, offhand because he couldn't get in a better position (we're old) and I used the cheater rifle... Sharp.
So I ended up with one of only 4 turkeys given out. I tried my hand at 44 yds and did better than most of the pb's at 44 but didn't bring a spotting scope so really didn't know where it was hitting and with a little switching breeze, it was just a lob and see situation.
The rifles and targets.

Thanks guys...
It was a great way to meet some shooters and generally good people and to support the local VFW.
There IS a story behind the Sharp but might be too long in my wandering way of writing. Was there something you were specifically curious about?

I've related some of my appreciation for pumpers in other posts. I've had several models of Sharp rifles and ALL, except the Innova were extremely well made and the top of my own pumper collection.. Even with iron sights, shooting the 15 yard card felt like cheating... if I would have brought my spotting scope. With 7 tries, I'm pretty sure I would have brought home a turkey with the Sheridan also. Now I have mostly used the Sharp at 10 yds w 3 pumps and 8.4 gn pellets but I SHOULD have used the 10.3s for better wind resistance at the 44 yd target. Just didn't go prepared 😕

Fun times, regardless...
