Swarm magnum gen 3

I have a swarm magnum gen 3 and it has killed every scope I've put on it. 4 to be exact. So I'm going to make the jump to pcp air guns. I got on the classifieds section to look for a good used one but have to have posted 10 times and had 10 days of activity. So here's my 1st post. Seems like a great resource for information.
Welcome! Happy to someone new joining pcps although the circumstance for it is a bummer. This place is definitely a never ending well of knowledge, and a great place to talk with others, or share experiences!

I'm still on the fence wether to get a decent beginner pcp or just jump in the deep end with a daystate or fx.
You don't even have to go that far deep into your pockets. Unless you're looking at mid tier price fx/daystate. Taipan, AGT, Cricket, Airmaks can cover what FX and Daystate can do for less money.

Benjamin Trail NP XL .22 has a "magnum" kick, the factory-installed CenterPoint (Crosman's scope brand) 3-9x40AO, has held up since 2019. Liked the optics so much picked up a barely used one on eBay for $50 for Crosman F4. WM

I've tried hawke, hammer and 2 vortex that supposedly would work on anything I put them on. Luckily they had a lifetime guarantee. For 50 bucks I wouldn't mind trying one of the crossman.

Crosman F4 came with CenterPoint 4x32, replaced with 3-9x40AO. Don't go CenterPoint 4x32. WM

Gamo will send you a free replacement scope of you call them and ask. But it will keep breaking, of course. I put a Vortex Strike Eagle on mine, which has a lifetime guarantee regardless of what it's mounted on. But that's pretty ridiculous, I admit. It will be great on the Blackwolf though!
I put 2 vortex on mine and it killed them both. The 1st one last 19 shots. Luckily they have a lifetime guarantee.

I haven't had any issues with the scope on mine, but the Swarm mechanism was nothing but a problem. I chronographed it, since I do that with most new guns and discovered that the velocity varied up to 150 fps from shot to shot. Eventually I began to notice that the amount of variation depended on the position of the magazine. The velocity would slowly climb for the first couple of shots and then progressively decrease as the magazine rotated. I tried a total of 3 magazines and some were better than others, but they all did it. Then I tore the entire mechanism off the gun and my maximum velocity went up about 25 fps and stayed steady.

Reximex Throne 2
All the features, 1/3 the cost.

Or the venerable Airforce Talon or Condors. Light and very accurate. 12", 19" and 24" barrels. Don't be put off by the single shot. While you are loading magazines Talons are shooting. The easiest gun to maintain and upgrade. 10 minutes to change barrels .177 to .22 or .22 to .25. Upgrades galore, double the power for $100 with high flow valve, heavy spring and heavy hammer. Want more air, 1.1L fat tanks for $100 plus sshipping.

Want big bore, the Texan line .257 to .510.

Welcome aboard. Get away from that Gamo & try PCP! You'll never look back! The ease with which they shoot, the accuracy & quietness is quite addictive. The "entry" fee (finding right projectiles, air source, etc.) might put some people off but the JOY is undeniable (if you find a gun with a great track record). I always suggest starting out with known great, straight out of the box accurate shooters for a positive, enjoyable, as trouble free as possible 1st experience. That way, it won't be your last!

I really like the fx king. Probably get the synthetic stock since it's several hundred dollars cheaper but haven't made my mind up. Was going to getvab avenge x but figured once I seen how good it shoot I'd be wondering how a great gun shoot. That new stock on the king is really nice though.

If you're seriously into airguns, then that's a choice you won't regret. The people that do seem to regret getting high end guns are those who only shoot once in a great while and decide to buy a top of the line gun just because they like nice things. If you're shooting every week then you'll appreciate the accuracy every time you pick it up.

There are scopes specifically rated for spring piston rifles.

This is an example, don't take it as a recommendation
It wasn't that exact scope but it did kill a hammer scope that was rated for spring rifles. The problem is the sarm is a magnum piston. Or so I've been told. It also killed a hawke that was rated for spring air rifles and 2 vortex that the replacement said would hold up on whatever I put it on. Luckily they have a no questions asked lifetime warranty.
