N/A Switching to PCP

So, I've decided to switch from break barrel to PCP. long story short, I bought a break barrel (double ordered on accident actually) and i've had nothing but problems with it...
break barrels seem to be too inconsistent and too finicky for me... I'm impatient. I don't want to spend an hour trying to zero in a scope because I have to use a specific rest (sand bags) and use an artillery grip and have to hold the gun the exact same way every time you shoot it so that it shoots consistent... and then the barrel might have play in it so when you break the barrel it might not come back to the *exact* same spot so your shot placement will be off etc etc....

nah... thats too much unnecessary crap for me... I've spent 2 weeks trying to sight in this stupid gamo swarm break barrel and I'm getting sick of it. im wanting to just throw it in the garbage if im being honest. (and not only that it kills my arms after cocking it about 20-30 times.) I'd prefer something a bit easier to shoot with a bit more consistency and accuracy. (plus I'd like to use a rail mounted bi-pod or possibly a clamped tri-pod since i plan on hunting with it).

Initially the only reason i went with break barrel is cause im left handed and i couldnt find many left handed or ambidextrous PCPs. That being said, i recently saw that the Benjamin Armada (Linked here) has a reversible bolt for us south paws and is regulated. I've always heard good things about benjamin n(typically the maurader, but the armada has a under barrel rail and I dont see one on the maurader). BUT I've read some pretty negative reviews about the cartridge and how cheaply made they are... I'd LIKE to keep the price under $800 USD if anyone could recommend a GOOD ambedextrous PCP. Rememeber I'm wanting undermounted bipod and left handed/ambedextrous. semi auto or bolt action is fine. Would also like it to be regulated.

TIA.

I’m all for you getting into PCP’s , however please don’t base the abilities of a springer on the gamo swarm.
It would be like saying I want a boat because cars are terrible based on my Yugo.
There are springers that can address most, if not all of your concerns.
A PCP can be a great tool and can also be an exasperation of endless tinkering and leak chasing. PCP’s also require an air source that can be more than the gun itself.
Please use this group to provide good information on what to get and what to expect.
Whatever you decide, share your experience here for others in the future!

There's an Edgun R3M in classifieds. Built like a tank! I've had an R3 on loan for the summer. Shooting slugs (Daystate Howlers or NSA .217, 20.2gr). I've fallen in love with it, dammit. One for sale is mint condition. GREAT shooting gun, I mean really great!
Ha...be careful of this..."built like a tank" comment, that some people will throw out there.

BUT, in the case of the EdGuns (as mentioned above), the Lelya, the Lelya 2 the R3M's, ARE built like a tank in the airgun world. The company owner/designer, has a video, with him running over a Lelya 2 with his GM truck, then back again (for two !!) Then he cocks it and shoots it..!
I'd guess, not many airguns will withstand that test.
Although to be fair, there's another guy who puts three or four guns to a pretty rough test schedule. Some survive, some...not so much.
I know the "AAA Evol" line of guns is one that also can survive a pretty good beating.

Remember, a gun falling off of a truck tailgate is...possible.

Mike

P.S. - Here's an AAA EVOL for sale in the classified section...

O.P. would like:

-PCP
-Under $800
-Ambedextrous
-Undermounted bipod
-Regulated
-Semi or Bolt action.

Bipod on a hunting rifle?
What about a "OVER the barrel" mounted bipod?
If yes, Id recommend the $240 Umarex Notos with its L/H lever.
Otherwise, the Air Venturi Avenge X might be of interest.

I started with springers 35? years ago.. I totally understand what you are saying, rws Diana 34 break barrel 177 was perfect until I tried to scope it.. my opinion scoped it wasn't worth 2 cents.. but shot great open sights..I took think it was the barrel movement.. got a rws Diana 48 in 22 and it shot even better open sights I think because I don't care what it's doing, can be blowing sideways and if I want to shoot I will.. scoped it and was very happy with it.
I can't take the recoil anymore, not fun getting old, but I still think about that old 48 and get tempted anytime I see a 54.. I really messed up and missed a laminate one on eBay but you never know..
so PCP.. you better think about the air source..I have had a Omega trail charger for 8 years and it's been good, just pumps air.. got it from Airguns of Arizona..
avenger might be good, I don't know..I have a liberty nova similar to the avenger, I think pre avenger it's got open sights which you will have a hard to finding on PCP airguns now..
I have a notos, open sights pistol grip.. the factory open sights won't work on the gun with a stock..
decent gun..
I just started shooting airforce Condor, they are not regulated but for the long distance shooting I've been doing, well I don't think it would get any better with a regulator..
pellet on pellet after a few shots sighting in at 50 yards.. can't wait to stretch out to 100-200- well 500 yards if I can find a clearing..

If you would had bought a Weihrauch, like the HW97k or HW95, then you would not have this problem.
A Gamo is a cheap airrifle with nice specs but is build like a cheap piece of sh*t
I know, I own one and also al few Weihrauch 's.

Quality cost money, also with a PCP.
Look at Airgun Technology guns, like the Vixen and Vulcan. Regulated and for lefties.

I think the only way to make a spring gun somewhat accurate would be to scout mount the scope to the barrel, not the spring tube. And then there is the obnoxious reverse recoil. If I ever get another spring gun I would get a side or under lever.

Just get the Marauder or an Armada. A Marauder is a great rifle and a good learning tool also. They are simple rifles to work on and most seals are available at hardware stores. You will need some means to fill the rifle, just to say it. Accurate, light and powerful, one of my custom built rifles, aluminum light weight tube, Huma regulated, .161 porting, Veil camo dip. AGR light FFH and AGR cocking assist, pic rail mounted under fore-stock for bipod, cut down short shroud, moderator adapter. One of my .25s on overwatch duty:

Warne Vapor USA made vertical split rings are strong and light as a feather and precise, available in dove tail and pic styles. A M-Rod is worth buying just for the wonderful trigger.
