Tactacam feedback

Just curious for feedback on the tactacam with the record through scope system. Is the image quality good? Does it remain good and in focus even when you use a high zoom on the scope ?

Focusing can be tricky at first. Before going out on a hunt use a tablet or cellphone to make sure that your reticle and sight picture are in focus, it not your footage can be blurry. Be sure that your don't allow the FTS mount to rotate your ocular ring once you have it set. This is what I had trouble with. If you don't do this your zoomed on footage will be blurry. An example of this https://vimeo.com/826758569?autopla...kOmRlc2N8eyJyZW1vdmVfdm9kX3RpdGxlcyI6ZmFsc2V9

The video quality is good enough for me to see what I did right and wrong on a hunt. Be sure to try the few recording settings like the slo-mo setting. I suggest that you search the threads. There are several Tacatcam FTS threads where members discuss what they like and dislike about this film-through-scope system.

Here's a link to check out, but there are others https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/tactacam-fts-or-side-shot-w-phone.1314165/#post-1759571

Thanks for the info. Is the focusing process pretty simple?

@Trucker3573 Working it out in the beginning takes some getting used to. What’s key for me is to make sure that it is set right before leaving. The first thing that you should do is situate the camera in the RmFYD Mount to make sure that your picture is level (as opposed to cocked crooked) on your screen. Also the diopter on your scope may need to be adjusted to the camera because the way we adjust them to our eyes may make the camera’s image fuzzy because our eyesight may not be 20/20. It’s very important to get that straight before leaving or your reticle will be out of focus. If you make a bad hold it can be tough to near impossible to determine what was done on video because it’s out of focus. Making these adjustments is tough to do afield because you need a mobile device’s screen to see what the camera sees.If I’m among the animals I don’t want to be digging in my pockets, pulling my phone out, and using Allen keys to adjust the mount.

I’ve also had situations where I rushed and everything looked good before I left, then my recorded picture was out of focus. That’s what happened the day I took the video I linked in my last post. Before I left I used a tree trunk in my yard to focus and center my camera. Bad idea. It’s best to use something with worlds on it and be sure you can clearly read the words. Once you get it set, it’s a great tool to have, but there is a learning curve. A good thing to do is to get used to using it during target practice. Know what color light corresponds to which recording mode you decide to use. That’s marked on the camera somewhere, but it helps to know if you’re on the right setting when you see the light as it starts recording.
