Tactacam FTS shots

I got my Tactacam kit from foxoptics 2 days ago. Been watching it for years, but now that the FTS came out I pulled the trigger. Never filmed a hunt in my life. Easy to set up. One criticism. They have you mount the FTS part, then put the camera in backwards, and lastly, level the crosshairs. When you want to transfer vids from camera to computer, you can connect the camera to the computer while still on the gun (a PIA), you can remove the micro SD card and use a card reader, or you can remove the camera from the gun and do either of the above. Problem is. when you go to twist the end cap off the camera, it's so tight that you twist the camera too. Bottom line-you have to re-align the crosshairs every time. Not hard to do, but an un-necessary distraction. I'm sure the next version will be able to transfer the videos wirelessly. Tactacam-Are you listening?

Makes sense. I’ve used it with two different scopes and didn’t have to move either forward. Since most scope eye relief is about 3 to 3.5 inches, and the FTS adds about 1.5 inches in length, you have plenty of eye relief without moving your scope, and your cheek weld position remains unchanged

I’ve used it on the Athlon Midas TAC 6-24x50 and Vortex Razor HD LH 3-15x42. Worked perfectly on both without scope movement on the gun.

here's a quick DIY tip. Use the app to setup 3 profiles for different lighting conditions. You can toggle the mode button after you do this to swap between the 3. Then, simply use a sharpie and put 2 dots (one on camera and one on FTS). You simply just push the camera in, and align the dots.

This is hands down the easiest system in the field to deal with. It's all about taking a few minutes on the front end and getting things setup. Happy to answer any questions you have too.

Sure hope this thing works. I shot a GS at 265 yards today about two minutes after asking Travis @ Fox Optics a few questions about the unit.

That would have been nice to film. So would the last 6 or 7 Ground Squirrels I've shot at 270 - 280 yards in the last few weeks.

Hope the optics are going to be clear at long range. I'll know more on Tue. when it arrives I suppose.

Use the integrated 8x zoom on one of the presents for that distance. Very limited noise added to the footage 👍

Thanks for the information. That means as you zoom you lose resolution or is the sensor actually much larger than 4K K such that some limited zooming doesn't affect the recorded resolution? What amount of zooming do you need to get the scope's field of view maximized in the , I know difference scopes will differ?

It’s hard to explain really, but the noise is really low out to 8x. Makes no sense if it’s 100% digital. I just fired off a text to a couple guys at Tactacam to get an answer. Meeting with them tomorrow on a different project. Let me know if ya’ll have any questions other than clarification on this, and I’ll try to get them answered

Anyone out there have both the Tactacam and a side shot or have used both? I have contacted Tactacam to find out what is in FTS kit. Nothing special, so if u buy on their site you are spending more then you need too. Cheaper to buy the scope mount and the 5.0 as separate items. Very impressed with Tactacam’s response to some questions I had. Up in the air on if I should get a sideshot for my phone (not the $1249 GoPro way to rich for my pay grade) or the tactacam. Which lands in the $400ish range depending on where u buy it.
I would really appreciate your thoughts, the Amazon reviews concerned me a bit which why I am asking.
