Tactical long range.25

This will be my first post on this awesome forum and I also like to ask the community to forgive my poor English, I had to lea by myself and the most is a remaining from my trip all across the USA in the nineties…

On the search for a new benchrest only pcp in cal. 25, I was aiming towards the new Uragan 2. But since I do already have one of them in different cal., I’d liked to get something different and also more in the “Tactical” style…
Same for the LCS SK-19

Priority is of course the best precision but also as silent as possible too

After excluding FX (too much tinkering), AEA (Chinese), Hatsan&co (Turkish), I’ve ended up with a closer look towards the RAW HM1000 chassis… Just asking: I found it at PA in both versions, just threaded or with the “silencer” included over the barrel, but both of them were rated 4-pretty loud… an error or does this moderator actually not work a lot ?…

Any other suggestions ? (After watching lots of reviews, it seems the Gunnar is not the most accurate and the Ibex as single shot anyway no consideration…). Maybe the Air Arms S510 in the Tactical version ? How would it compare to the RAW ?

Any thoughts and advices would be highly appreciated !

Thanks a lot and heartily cheers from over the pond :)

Long range pellet BR is nonexistent in an organized sanctioned format. BR is about ultimate accuracy, predicting wind drift, and precisely guiding your shot to the center. Long range pellet shooting is not really BR because the pellet lacks the ability to be predictably guided in the wind past 75y….and 75 is a stretch. Being across the pond likely limits your long range pellet BR to probably zero events. If you can actually find a long range pellet match in your country….I would suggest going to it and seeing what is used there.

Lower power pellet guns (12 and 20fpe) compete at 25m. The world sanctioning body is the WRABF. Higher power 22 cal pellet guns will also be added to the WRABF this year at 50m.

Good luck.

Think your missing out if you discount the FX Crown mk2 in .25 caliber. A .22 caliber won RAMC.
I have a Crown Mk2. 25 600mm barrel and love the thing. Shooting 25.39 pellets or 26.8 Neilson slugs , its a lead stacker.
I had a great time while first learning how to get the best out of it, but with loads of help from the guys on AGN and YouTube, it was fun. Frustrating a tad at times but the discovery of the process was exceptional.
I found that the 25.39 JSB's or FX branded JSB flying at about 895 fps consistently gave me 1/2 groups at 57 yards . As the wind came up , they wind opened up the groups a tad and moved them over from poa but still grouped well.
While hunting ground squirrels, the Nielsen 26.8 slugs perform very good at 975 fps. 57 yard groups 3/4 " but does the same at 78 yards where as the pellets started opening up to 1"to 1 1/2".
Longest 1 shot kill with slugs 150 plus yards, lots in 80 to 90 yard range.
Crown gives you the fine tuning but not so complicated to learn as Impacts or othe FX guns.
All that said and done, my next gun is going to be a Impact mk3 700mm barrel in .25.
I probably didn't make it any easier for you , sorry.
Have fun deciding, as long as you are happy, that's all that counts.
You might also look at the Hw100, I have one also in .22 and it rocks.

Hello Mike ! Thank You for your kind (and detailed) reply !
Yes, the HW100´s are awesome, I do have one in each of the three calibers… (unfortunately they don’t make it in.25), amongst some more quality pcp’s, and that’s were the “FX “Problem”” starts : I like to shoot them all, but don’t have obviously the time to additionally “tinker” around with. The FX’s are hands down amongst the best ones one can get, but they need to be cared for and set to their exact settings for best performance. I prefer to just pick up the “right” gun out of the safe for what purpose I just intend to do and shoot !
Agree with You, it might be tempting to tickle out the optimum of his gun, and very interesting to simultaneously learn much more about the physical laws of pcp’s, but again, with a 100 hours week (and also take care of my fiancee), I just have not the time.
Thanks again, good shooting and always stay safe !
Best regards
Florian

Thank You Mike, for your nice repl’y. You are obviously right, but I actually don’t have any intentions (neither the time) to participate at any official contests.
I am a passionate shooter but, excepted the 300m AR discipline (very popular in my country), I “just” “shoot around” at my self made private range on my farm…
This doesn’t mean I would satisfy myself by plinking, actually I am very ambitious towards increasing my skills, and also picky about the quality of the gun(s).
Best regards and always good and safe shooting

Crown … nice gun … I’m shooting the new / old. Brocock commander XR magnum. 23” barrel I shoot the JSB 25.39 pellet but for long range slug the JSB knock out shoots 1/4 groups at 75-100 yards. I’m watching online all the slug progress of the FX impact. With the new carbon fiber barrel stabilizers look promising….. but I squirrel hunt and those new hollow points ‘ javelin’ would destroy to much meat in my 2 cents. I’ve shot the KO on a few squirrels and heads shots work but body shots enter kill quickly and do not bust up the meat as badly. Just my 2Ct
