Tuning Taipan .25 optimal velocity

Can the shroud be moved forward to make it quieter?

I don't know. It might be easier to reverse it, but I haven't looked that closely at mine, which is a Standard. I added a silencer and it's whisper quiet. But, I can tell you from shooting my friend's Veteran .25, it is louder. I'm not sure if tuning it differently would help or not, maybe a different balance of HST and reg set point?

Thnk you! I'm pretty sure it came tuned very well...I was really hoping someone had luck with lower velocities..

I'm sure it did. My point, you can maintain the same velocity with a different combination of HST and reg setting. The duration of the valve opening will influence sound. Whether you would find a combination that maintains accuracy and reduces sound, only testing would determine. My guess, it would not be worth the time and effort.

I'll start at 850 and go from there...thanks for the input!

Please update this post once you test out optimum velocities. There are at least several Taipan .25 owners who would have an interest in your results. BTW - Mine shot pretty darn good at 865 also, but I would have to retest and take notes to validate more accurate testing.

Not sure if this helps/hinders, but just to give you some idea of a couple Chrono runs. I also have many more shot strings that range from 900 - 945 FPS. I will say, that trying to achieve the lowest possible ES and SD spreads and correlating to optimum accuracy is like chasing a ghost; for me anyway!

So to update..original tune of about 900fps seems to be optimal, although everything from 835 and up was still quite acceptable. I will stick with the original tune due to flatter trajectory. Hope this helps, and thanks to everyone who commented!

It's nice to be content and have a great time with it!

It does!

I was just shooting my BSA r10 TH and soooo happy with it too. I usually ALWAYS reach for the Taipan VL .25 but the BSA hit the sweet spot too
