Taipan Taipan air tube

Hi,

Wondering whether I should be concerned about this nick on the air tube. Not sure when/how it was caused.

I first noticed it because there was residue (probably ballistol or moisture) around it.

So I wiped it clean with ballitol and put it back in the case. A few weeks later I pulled it out and again there was moisture/residue around it again. Wish I would have taken a picture but I wiped it again. Perhaps caused by some type of heat change around that spot?

You may want to "verify" that, that IS a vent "hole", and not a nick.
Most vents are near each end...of the tube, between o-rings in the end plug pieces. Where is this indication located ?

If it's not near one end or the other of the tube, I second what "beerthief" said. Better safe than sorry.

Yep. Same location as vent holes on mine (x3). Tube can be degassed and endcaps totated to orient the vent hole "down" (in the stock) so you don't see it.

Edit: I think ....trying to remember....the back end of the tube (this end) might have to snug up tight to the breech block.....the front half of the valve is in the tube if I remember correctly. As I'm thinking this through I may have been wrong in my original statement above about being able to rotate the tube. The gauge end allows more freedom in orientation (to where the gauge can be oriented how you like it when degassed, and so can the fill port) , but I'm kinda thinking the back end has to be snugged up and vent hole just is where it is at that point.

Edit#2: One of mine has the vent hole pointing up towards the barrel like yours. The other two are hidden by the stock inletting, so rotated around and out of sight when in a stock.

You can CLOCK the fill/gauge end, but Not the tube itself as it all tightens / rotates getting the breech block end snugged up.
The vent hole ends up where ever things tighten up at. It is a NON ISSUE ;)
