Tuning Taipan Anti Double Feed - No feed at all

Hi All,

New to me Taipan Veteran. The magazine will not index. Ever. (I'm not new to Taipan Veterans, just this one that just arrived in the mail, used).

Anyway, what resets the anti double feed mechanism? I am unable to find any details on what resets the mechanism. It appears to have a piston/pin that protrudes back into the hammer cavity just below the anti double feed mechanism. Bottom line is that the mechanism is not resetting.

With that said, do you have to max out a .177 in velocity to get it to index? All my other Veterans are .22 and I can shoot mild to wild and I've never had any issues with indexing the magazine.

I've read the posts on the detent ball going missing. Everyone is home. I watched videos on inspection of the mechanism and it seems to work.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nugria

I get solicited really super dirt cheap guns all the time outside of the classifieds with descriptions of issues from non mechanically inclined folks who don't want to have to mail their guns for repair even when I offer to walk them through the fix...AND NO I DONT USUALLY FIX OTHER PEOPLE'S GUNS. But those who got them back couldn't believe how nice the triggers were.

Like less than half price typical market value (based on the current classifieds) but I just collect them. You be surprised...

I just HAD TO KNOW how the Taipan Veteran anti double feed worked that's all... (How does the gun KNOW you FIRED the shot and wasn't a fake decock?)

Have you pulled the trigger?

Pulling the trigger resets the mechanism.

THAT! (made my day) !!!

OH-OH is the gun on SAFE?

You CAN NOT Trick it by decock BTW!!!

ASK ME HOW I KNOW...

LoL 👍

Couple Youtube tips for ya...

Some YT videos have CC. Not all, but this one does.

  • click CC button on video tool bar
  • click settings
  • choose subtitles
  • choose auto-translate
  • select your language
  • enjoy 😃

You can also right click on any video and select "copy video URL at current time"

That way when you drop it in here it automatically starts at the spot you want it to.

Great video in the Taipan BTW. I'll be saving this one 👌

Hi All,

Thanks for the translation/CC help with the video. Seems that the dowel pin (vertical) at around 14:50 may have been the culprit. For this application I had to tap it back down about 0.3 mm. Works really well now. I can run the HST out until it about falls out and it indexes the mag just fine.

Happy Shooting!,

Nugria

Ps. Really need to work on my Spanish language skills. I can't think of a better way than studying airgun mechanics!

Auto-translate to English works, Senior 😎
