This is what got me pondering.....

And it's not just right now but usually there's a Vet thread at or near the top of the current discussions......

Taipan appears to not spend much on advertising. Yes they have the Instagram page, but that's free and has only been active in the last couple years. BUT, no banner on the forums and no plethora of career YouTubers (yeah, same negative connotation as career politician). YET, lots of interest and lots of guys just love them some Vets on a regular basis here. 

Sure tells ya something bout the Veteran. 

They let performance and reputation do their advertising it seems.

But you see plenty who've never seen one in person complaining about the cocking lever position or the shape of the stock :)

Honestly - I was one of them for two years. Then I just gave up and got another one anyway. I'll take rear cocking over a crappy airgun any day.

One of the first high end airguns I've ever owned was a Taipan mutant standard. I was newer in airgunning and wanted to try something else out. Tried many guns of all shapes and sizes, brands and prices. Almost 6 years now and sold all PCPs and bought one that for my needs thought was the ultimate gun, Taipan Veteran Shorty .22. I have absolutely no regrets with my choice and it has proven itself time and time again. I've owned Taipans in every caliber .177, .22 and .25 and Short, Standard and Long. .22 I owned in ever size and .177 and .25 in the Standard length. Loved everyone. Just amazing bullpups for the price.

I liked the idea of a forward cocking gun and AGT did a nice job of it but were forward cocking just not side lever rather a bolt, but what Kalibrgun did for the Cricket 2 on its forward lever, yeah I was more than happy with my rear cocking Taipans!

Exactly!

I own, and shoot, Taipan Veteran Standards in .177, .22. and .25 caliber. For me, there is simply no better air rifle.

Honestly, coming from powder burners, the first time I experienced shooting a Taipan Veteran Standard, and felt the recoil on my shoulder I knew it was the real deal….

I've got two myself - both in that coffee laminate stock. A .177 standard and a .22 long. Both are amazing. I tote both with me to my farm permissions and mostly use the .177 but if something is out further than 60 yards ( and I need to reach out and 'touch it" ) or if it is a bit windy ... then I'll pull out the .22. 13g JSB monsters in the .177 and 23g .217 H&N slugs in the .22. The .22 long is a frickin' laser. :) Both are ~quiet~ too - I don't even have moderators on either of them. Yeah - thanks to this forum - when I was in the market for a new gun I had it down to two different mfg's and the .22 long was the predominant front runner BUT was ( at the time ) like trying to nail down bigfoot. *NO ONE* had them. Then one day I popped onto here and Tony @ TalonTunes happened to put up a borderline cryptic post something to the effect "Unicorns have landed . . . "

I knew immediately what that Unicorn was . . . and my .22 long was just that - mine. :)

The taipan is a nice gun. I have a .177 standard. But the word fantastic might be a litle exagerated. I did not got the accuracy with JSB heavy, I wanted, before I lowered the reg pressure from 120-130 ish bar down to 90 bar. I opted for a huma reg, as I also have a reg tester for it. The anti double feed has stopped working, but othervise the gun rotate the mags as normal, so I may not bother about fixing it. So for me taipan is a nice gun, but it was not perfect from factory. Being owner of several FX guns, I probably would have prefered forward cocking on the taipan also. But once I found my technique, it is not something that bothers me. The trigger is offcorse very nice, and easy to adjust. If I had to sell one of my guns, it would probably be one of my FX`s. Not because they are bad, but I start to have to many guns. And it might be a litle boring owning guns from just one manufacturer. But I will probably never sell all my FX guns, as I like the world of accesories, ease of tunability, and the options to shoot slugs with them. My taipan will probably never be a slug shooter, but it is a nice pellet shooter. So for me personally, I will keep both my taipan, and FX, as it is nice to have something different to choose from:)

Several years ago I decided to plunge into the higher airguns, and wanted a fancy bullpup. Of course I was looking at a wildcat.

So I asked on another airgun forum, what the better bullpup is. When it was Scott that answered with "Taipan mutant" with reason, I went and ordered one. It was a mutant, before the veteran came out. Still love that gun and its the golden standard I compare my other guns to!
