Taipan Taipan Mutant standard .22, power plenum?

Hello,

Love this little rifle still! Looking increase plenum size on my old .22 Mutant standard. It came from the factory with a small aluminum spacer to offset the reg from the valve housing. I also think it has a step inside the pressure tube where the reg stops so probably limited to an additional section but looking for any input/ideas/experience in doing this. Currently has a Huma Air reg installed. In addition I am also looking at a longer barrel from TJ...goal is to get some heavier slugs or Beasts up to around 900-30.

Thanks, DT

All of it helps when combined together and tuned to compliment all added attributes.

If you need a plenum, I have a few as well as stronger hammer spring.

Old technology really made for pellet shooting , really tight choke .. I have one and it does awesome with 16 to 18 gr pellets .. could it be transform in to a slug shooter..? yes a member here has done it with his custom valves n work.. it's only worth it if you do the machining your self .if you have to pay for such custom work. It gets ridiculously expensive pretty quick and still you will not made all the power you could with a newer gun .. save some coin the Epic one in 22 give you 700mm CZ barrel adjustable reg . Awesome solid platform to have a long range buid . For almost the price that it could be spend trying to make a gun to do something it was not designed for.. yup ask me how .. 🤣😂 a lot of money down the drain..

Amath were you from? Best just keep the little Mutant shooting 700 -800 FPS , You can get high power out of it but its not going to like it,,
Get you a Mora, RTI 3 Or a veteran long , You will be a lot happier than trying to squeeze big power out of the little Mutant...

Hello Mr
Mike AKA

airgunmike56 and thanks for your advise

, I am from S.A , regarding getting high power from old design pcp, it is a something that I enjoy doing it. I own many pcp since 2001 up to new model of this year I own pcps from each maker around the world . For long range I enjoy my vetran 2 tactical 700mm in 0.25 cal which give me upto 440 yard with certain projectile at 80 ft.lb. for hunting and practicality I enjoy my 2017 huben k1 0.22 cal that shots ko up to 190 yard 1.2 to 1.5 moa accurately at 930-970 ft/s.
for blinking at 220 yard I enjoy r3m in 0.25 cal which has 90 shot of jsb 25gr at 945 ft/s ( modified by me no plenum yet) which also shot slug 30-38gr at 900-960 very accurate between 35 to 45 shots. fx impact mk1 v1 and v2 I just have them for fun. hw100 is my trusty 30 ft.lb rifle. edgun leshiy 1 is the pcp that has more than 14 barrels in 0.17 ,0.22 and 0.25 cal from fx smooth twist , Lw, cz ... to webley breaker air rifle barrels. the edgun leshiy 1 is my favorite toy that i never get bored of it . I Have kral puncher pitbull and nemsis for project too . I forgot the kaliber gun cricket mk1 in 22 that shot 65 of 47 ft.lb ( modified by me no plenum yet) which I am planing to add a plenum in soon future. simply I love any pcp that efficient. in my personal opinion all pcps are accurate as long as you discover the best projectile for it at the best setting. I own my on lathe and milling as a hoppy which help me to develop some understanding of pcp mechanic and physics unfortunately I am not at level of doing my own plenum . my professional Is An Icu intesivest .

Hello mercado, you are right but you will be shocked by the result . simply there is something need to be discovered or to rediscovered again. just look at my edgun r3m and kaliber gun cricket mk1.

Hi .. well if you still want to do it. As far I have read you will need 2 plenum.. they have used 3 but have seen no gain above 2 .. for heavy lead 36 to 40 factory valve has not been enough they have to build their own HP valves. As for barrels TT has a .22 700mm CZ unchoke aviable.. but TJ also has a .22 1-18 twist..that works great with 40gr slugs as per the vids in YouTube of Airgun LR .. he has 2 builds with this barrel and both shott great.. when order from TJ . Let him know that you need the barrel to be 15mm so you don't need any bushings when installing the barrel in the taipan barrel bands .. 👍👍
