Hey gang
Don’t have one of these but I know they are fabulous reliable guns. I’m a traditional air rifle enthusiast (i.e., Daystate Regal XL .22, FX Royale 400 in .22 caliber, RAW HM1000x HP .22, and RW Safari .HP ART barrel .25); but, I wonder if Czech Republic Taipan Manufacturers would consider a forward cocking side lever and a big improvement in stock design? Seems like you would cream the competition with a couple of design improvements on a great gun and reputation. I’m a lefty and don’t like the rear side lever and also would like to see a much nice stock.
Nation - Any thoughts or ideas on what you would like to see?
Taipan Manufacturing - if you are monitoring please comment

By far, most of the Taipan stock detractors have never even seen one. That's just silly, guys

. Let me explain.
Have to admit I wasn't super keen on the stocks from pictures but a couple years ago i bought one anyway based on their incredible reputation. I simply could not resist lol.
Couldn't find a new one anywhere so I bought a used one from R&L. Took me about 2 minutes to fall in love even though it had signs of wear from it's previous owner.
I have since owned a total of 5 Taipans and currently own 3 (all shortys) Sold 2 Standards because I don't require the power they can generate in my limited back yard. If I had more space, I would certainly have kept them.
The stock:
- Truly ambi due to the fact that it's perfectly symmetric left to right
- The pistol grip IMO is perfect. To me it feels like holding your 1st girlfriend's hand. Remember that feeling when you were a teenager? Yep, it's just like that.
- IMO the carry handle is also perfect. You can comfortably get 4 fingers around it and the gun balances beautifully when carrying. I used to have a Wildcat and could only get 3 fingers in there because of the design. Hated that.
- The fore end is blocky-looking to the eye but it let's the gun sit on a bag without tipping over which is super nice.
- The only change I would like to see would be some checkering on the fore end for a better grip. I put grip tape on mine and highly recommend it

The rear lever:
As a Wildcat owner, I had thought of myself as a mid-lever snob but the Taipan changed my mind completely.
The Taipan lever is buttery slick. Like a miniature Swiss bank vault. It is a joy to cycle and never gets old. It's also switchable to either side so you lefties don't have to worry
IMO the rear position's only detriment would be during a speed silhouette competition.
Long story short I sold the Wildcat a couple months later as it was collecting dust and proceeded to buy 4 more Taipans
Changes I would like to see?
- Should come with 1/2-20 thread adapter on the front
- Should come with a knurled HS adjuster
- Add checkering to fore stock
- Should come with mag holders or at least they should be available as an option
Hope some of this helps anyone who's on the fence.
Matt
