Tuning taipan standard .177 10.3's speed

Guys .. sorry if my above post sounds like tests ....

Honestly I'm not trolling, but trying to keep it simple on concept to understand w/o getting overly technical.

As mentioned by a few others in the thread, is that WHAT the velocity does at pressures JUST UNDER where regulation starts happening is very telling as to the tune being BEFORE or AFTER or ON the bell curve Knee. This in turn can be telling on what the efficiency trend will likely be.

Think what a lot of folks don't understand is that JUST BECAUSE YOUR REGULATED .... it does not mien shot speed won't vary ? WHY FOR is due to regulator set point creep.

If your tune / set up is such that you have more than enough / required hammer strike energy ... If reg creeps up a tad your PCP is GOING TO SHOOT FASTER !! Where as if hammer strike currently is too little for the regs set point the same creep in reg set point change as above WILL SHOOT SLOWER !!

So if your regulator is super stable and shows little to no creep tendency and you never shoot below the reg set point ..... MOST would never see a problem worth worrying over !!

Sadly most regs do creep a bit and this is where a correct tune of regs pressure set point AND hammer strike setting to get at a specific speed with a specific weight projectile become important. Cold 1st shots are the same as the rest of the regulated shots !!!! And even as you leave regulation the speed hangs very close to the rest then slowly drops off.

Ok guys . . . . do you really want to see this shot string?? ( ... because it's LONG . . . lol! ) It's not even the entire string either - I shot off 50 rounds at targets and other misc stuff prior just to shorten the string thinking that the gun would 'run out of gas' (come off the reg) WAY sooner than it did. The wireless chrony thing (one of those FX ones) did miss . . . I don't know - 10, 12 shots or so over the duration of the string too but -- there's enough there to give you a picture of what is / isn't happening ( I think ). I've only got the two 10 round magazines that the gun comes with, so you'll see 2-3 minute gaps in the time stamps @every 20 or so shots - again - the chrony missed some so not all will be a full 20. Without further adieu then . . .

Started running chrony @shot #51 ( just to allow for any weirdness I may have encountered while getting the phone and chrony sync'd, chrony not reading due to distance from barrel, end of barrel, etc . . . the thing can be kinda twitchy sometimes . . .  ) Also - I started with a full 250 bar fill and it was 48*. I kept track of the fill at 20 shot intervals during the string. After the first 50 unrecorded shots the gun was showing 190 bar of air left in the tank. Notes for the descending pressure inline below.

( It FINALLY (lol) came off reg above and ending pressure left in the tank was sitting at around 35 bar . . . )

It ( the chrony ) 'spazzed' on this last string (grrr!) and missed quite a few but ... regardless - I'm thinking that the gun fell off in actuality at 50'ish or so bar ( is that possible to be that low ??? ) at around that --> 875 <-- mark above.

The thing is though - it's shooting really pretty good. 10 shots at 30'ish yards on some target on a board ( I went to a local range that I can shoot at ) and literally just whipped these off in the first 50 shots before I started recording them. Pic of that little group - thats 9 or 10 shots. Thats my pinky finger. :)

These shots seem oddly high in increase:

4/26/21 6:13:21 PM,914
4/26/21 6:13:30 PM,909
4/26/21 6:13:38 PM,909
4/26/21 6:13:46 PM,909

Looking at all of the numbers I feel that you should really consider the low of 856 and high of 914 to be a fluke or error of some kind.

Seems like these are the Real Numbers and you should maybe just shoot the hell out of it to break in (like you said).
LOW = 879
HIGH = 907

That's one HELL OF A SHOT COUNT!!!

Pretty sure the experts will want to see the first 51 shots as well.

Yeah -- the thing just wouldn't quit shooting!! I was amazed at the number of shots I was getting out of it and Molly the dog - she was getting irritated with it because she just wanted to go off into he trails and run. :) I was laughing / incredulous when it did finally ( clearly fall off based on shot speed dropping into the 860's / 850's ) and the gauge on the front of the gun looked like this. Crazy!!
