Taipan Veteran .25 - Slug Shooting

Anyone on here shooting a slugs in a .25 Vet - I've been testing past few days - AVS 46gr cup - 46gr BT - 48gr BT and 50gr BT. All have proven extremely accurate but wow, that .50 really impresse....got it tuned to 986fps and shooting quarters @ 75yrds. Not interested in shot count at the moment, more wanting a fast & hard-hitting bullet - just wanting to see what other Taipan shooters are using. I have some lighter weight slugs, 32,34,36,44, etc. just not getting the performance - seems, least for my gun that nothing below 46gr seems to equal the heavier bullets

You Taipan Veteran must not be stock if its shoot 107-foot pounds. What did you do to get it that high?
just shot a 10 string @ 1005 with AVS 46gr BTs. - same quarter accuracy. No, the gun is not stock. Ported/Polished both air transfer ports - has a PP - Huma regulator - 24in. LW polygonal barrel with a STO Sarissa moderator - modified a TT hammer spring and installed a DIY spring damper. Worked and re-worked the trigger....smooth as butter now, very light with a 1-2mm roll-off, zero lag. Burris 8-40x50 scope. Love this thing. Have basically the same gun in Compact .22 - still tuning on that one though it seems to like AVS 30gr. BT's

Just curious. With the big ole list of things done to your gun, why would it even matter what stock Taipan .25 guys were shooting? You are shooting a different animal.
Never know where good information may come from...sometimes, someone says something that makes you think and say, wow....never thought of that!
Any pics of your rifle with the 24 inch barrel and moderator? That is impressive! very very impressive!!!! Also how loud is the action setup like that?
Pics attached - .25 with the 27in barrel and my .22 compact with the 18in. polygonal. I have my shrouds off, taken apart at the moment - waiting for some sound deadening materiel to come in. Both are pretty quiet as is but trying to lower the db's a bit more. will post that information soon as i get the shrouds back on - want to ask, when testing sound - I'm guessing outside but how far from the barrel do you place the probe? and do you place it flush or in front/ behind the barrel if so, how far? just trying to be consistent with whatever the standard method is. I normally test in the house - i have a tripod with a bullet box and the tester normally just sits alongside but i know that can't be right.

That kind of performance almost seems incredible. I basically have a stock Taipan long and just finished slug shooting. my modifications were simply a heavy hammer spring, put in a huma reg set at 155 bar and added a plenum that is easily available. that's it. Shooting AVS 35-37g slugs dish base. .253 and at 950 FPS getting about 72 FPE. Steve and I just shot a bunch at 87 yards in a bit of wind 6-8 mph for some decent groups. Video coming soon. My upgrades cost about $180 combined and don't require special machining to do.

I know this thread ended a while back, but do you remember where you got your heavy hammer spring and plenum from?

Heavy hammer spring was from talon tunes, you can get the plenum there too but it's pricey. earnest rowe has it cheaper. Remember though, if you add a plenum, you will need to add a moderator to extend the barrel past the air tube. Which requires an adapter - donnyfl or talon tunes.

A moderator that matches the diameter of the shroud?
