My .177 standard is heId up in customs. Hopeing to get it soon but I have no idea how long this may take. Would love to compare the accuracy between the standard and compact in .177.

Thanks for posting that Kdog. I had read that you were expecting it last Thursday and was anxiously awaiting your feelings about the standard. Hopefully you’ll be getting it soon. I also wondered how this process was going to go as I’ve not attempted it myself yet.

I sent them a few emails to links of dealers here in the US that sell the taipan vets and told them there should not be a delay considering they are sold in the US already. The US dealers don't regularly carry the .177 so there was no choice but to look at over seas vendors. I was told by airgunheaven that this happened one other time but eventually went through. Hopefully they will get their chit together and release it .

My gun spent a week in customs until I finally got a hold of UPS who told me it had just been released. The timing of my call and release seemed too close to be a coincidence.
I just received an import shipment detail from UPS on Friday for a Tariff Rate of 3.90% of the value of the rifle + $11 disbursement fee. I was not expecting it. The total is $57.76. I need to run down to UPS today and ask about/pay the bill.

I had to pay import duty on a Delta Stryker scope from Krale a while back, but not for any of the guns I've bought from them.

On my standard version .177 Veteran I have been able to shoot 25yard bench rest cards in the 240s....consistantly 243-244 and the best it has shot shot was a 247. This is shooting at 12 and 20ft lbs.

Maybe it wasn't the most popular size..so no more taipan compact and no more cricket compact..discontinued...I have a 177 cricket compact and is great..sold my. 22 compact to buy a standard like the standard better...way more than the taipan long..I dont se the point of having the long to shoot 18g ... what ever I do with the long the. 22 compact does it better with a lot less weight...now the standard is a happy medium it like the jsb knock out will try to tune for that..

Yes it’s possible. Not sure what the best paint etc is. I did mine with lacquer spray cans & finished it with clear satin. It’s also possible to dip them, have seen one or two like that. Here’s mine:
