Well, there went my theory on the 700mm barrel and slugs. Did it at least shoot JSB 33.95 grain pellets well? If, not I guess I'll keep it stock.

Maybe there's gonna be a couple of CZ 700mm barrels for sale in the near future.
At TalonTunes he discloses the twist rate... "Twist rate is 17.7″ (450cm)"

If the goal is to use the 700mm as a slug shooter, the idea of chopping off the choke exists. The barrel is plenty long for it. Of course you'd need to have it rethreaded and I'm told by my machinist friend that carries the risk of opening up the bore a little too much. He says I got lucky that the unchoked blank that he threaded for 1/2-20 on my Long shoots so well, with that whole bore opening up theory.
I don't think the 700mm barrels are necessarily "bad" barrels, just that the one I saw this last weekend seems too tightly choked to be a decent slug shooter. At least with what Dan has shot through it so far. They basically have the same problem as the OEM barrels in the .22 Long seem to have, the gun is capable of decent power, but the tight choke only likes pellets with mostly hollow skirts, and so you cap out at 18grains, which can only go so fast before becoming unstable.

That's not my experience at all with my Veteran long in 22cal. The FX 25.39's are the most accurate and I had Tony set up the Huma Reg at 140 for the 25.39's. Outside of that I would make no sense to me to buy the Long version for just 18's. It shoots well at JSB 15.89's and 18.13's. I'll post some results tomorrow. I don't think I'm the only one either.

I didn't say they've all got the tight choke problem, just the four .22 OEM barrels that I've seen wouldn't shoot slugs or the 25.39s worth a dang. And my accuracy standards are for it to put ten into an inch or less most of the time at 50-55 yards.
If you've got one that shoots the Monster RDs up to your accuracy standard I'm happy for you.
I installed a power plenum along with the 700mm barrel. That alone gained me 50 fps and more shots. So about 900 fps with the 25 grain. The regulator is oem and I have not touched it. Seems to fall off around 140 bar. The power really came out when I stacked a couple nylon washers behind the hammer spring. It can shoot the redesigned monster 1065 fps. I adjusted it down to 930 fps with the 25 gr H&N slugs for 40 shots on a 250 bar fill.
I chose to use nylon washers because I didn't like what others have said about the power spring.
