Taipan veteran long with slugs

Hey "Rangur1", MOA groups are grand by any rifle. Reaching out past 100 yards is very do able with the right package. Velocity, weight, and BC of the projectile will all come into play at longer distances if you do your part. The combination that I prefer to use is a .25 cal, 40 - 44 grain bt slug, running right around 980 fps. For me, this seems to fight the wind better at longer distances and carry the energy out further than the lighter slug at a higher fps. I'm sure that you'll be able you reach out further once you're given the chance to.

Before my range was shut down, I shot 1 MOA easily with specific AVS slugs at 100 yards. Would have full confidence going farther. Was not able to extend to say 120 yards, or 150 yards. But feel I can get a good showing.

Early or later model taipan? do you remember which slugs? This is really interesting to me, I shot MOA with 33.95 .25 pellets at 115 with my long but didn't dare to try slugs as those barrels have quite the choke.

You shot 1 MOA at 115yds with 34g pellets? Well, you will have zero issues drilling a hole with the AVS slugs. The 35g and 37 grain in .253, now there is a video on youtube showing how Steve slugged both ends of the barrel with measured diameter differences. the groups shot were not great because I had the tune down at 900-920 FPS I think, when I cranked it up to 970 FPS with the 35g everything fell into place- unfortunately that was a trip after filming. which turned out to be the last trip before the range closed out the airgun section. I would suggest watching the video by air velocity sport labelled 25 cal slugger. But keep in mind the key was getting about 970 FPS. now when I get the opportunity I will try it with the 37g slugs as well. NOTE - I modified my gun with a HUMA set at 155 bar, added a plenum and a heavy hammer spring. Mine is 2-3 years old with a CZ barrel.

They are my favorite pellet for a reason, this is a 10 group out of the 10 round magazine, the little hole up right was from a bb gun from his nephew earlier in the day.

33.95 at 900 fps exactly from my .25 Long, the rifle that got away.....

Sorry for the delay, “one that got away?” I hope not. I only wondered about that performance with pellets at that range because I found shooting pellets at 100 yards was like “lobbing them in” with the 35g AVS slugs at 970 FPS - it was zipping them in with authority. A real pleasure.

These were blasting through plywood at that range no problem, but yes the rifle was sold to a member here and if it ever goes up for sale I get first crack at it
