Taipan Taipan Veteran Tactical stock

Who has one of these?

Is it worth the upgrade? I tend to like metal/synthetic airguns for my uses and while a nice laminate stock is nice, I'd prefer a different one. For the price at what I have in my Vet I think I can justify the $325 price. Just curious if others like how it feels or not. Id lose the rear part to ride a bag, but looks like i can make something there if need be. I'm ordering some spare parts from Talon Tunes anyways like a valve and a gauge. Ordered some orings last night also. Good thing as today looks like I found my Short has a leak. I think it's oring on the gauge but just in case getting a new gauge to be safe.

Ive got one Dillon.

I dropped the .20 Vet into it.

A Short won't fit because the trigger rod isn't long enough. They're meant for Standard or Long Vets. Mines a bit funky cuz I stole the trigger and rod from a Standard and put a plenum on Short airtybe to get the air tube as long as the forearm. But it's so dang compact still.

Standard AR grip. The wood one that mine came with has a bit of wiggle that I didn't like, but an Ergo zero degree is perfect.

Vet chassis stock is a porker. I'd guess a good two pounds heavier than a Laminate stock. Really noticeable weight difference.

I used it at the end of April to take first in a field target match, Hunter class. That was my first match with it and it's a killer Hunter class gun. The weight helps for me in a field target gun.

The ears on the buttpad are adjustable but still too wide for the bottom one to do anything. I mostly like one on top to keep the gun from dropping off of the shoulder pocket so you'll see that I sandwiched them both on the top to feel best to me.

I've got the tactical stock on my standard V1. It's heavy but is tough. I'm preparing to sell my V1 and will be converting it back to the original wood stock. PM me if you're interested in the tactical stock, I will make you a very good deal (y)

Dillon, just a thought, maybe the air leak is the fill valve, you could insert the probe with a balloon just on the probe fitting as a test

I've had more leaking fill valves than leaky gauges in my experience
Well from there I removed the cover and put it around the gauge and where it connects and not the fill port and still leaked. Put it around just the gauge itself and no leak so it's in the gauge connection. Appreciate the thought though!

So they are alot heavier huh? I wasn't thinking they would be as they seem pretty minimal. I'll have to think on that. My Long which is what I was thinking for is already over 10lbs scoped I believe. I usually shoot it rested but at it's weight don't think it really needs more. They do look good and think it would be nice, but added weight?? Will need to think. I appreciate the comments!

I had one. It was stupid heavy and uncomfortable. For rested shots it would be just fine, but walking and stalking it’s just too darn heavy.
Agree and having this issue. The writing has been on the wall for far too long now, that it’s too heavy and save benching, impractical. But can’t seem to get rid of it lol

Don't forget to check the little allen screw that is used to purge the air tube shown in the photo below. I believe the Oring for the gauge is a 9.25 X 1.78 (or AS568 spec 012). Good luck!

I bought every oring in the gun lastnight from oring store. There only a couple hrs from me so I'll have them Tuesday. Yeah not the little screw either. Not stressed about it. BTW if anyone needs orings I'll have about 30 reseals worth of orings lol quite a few had 100 minimum order.

Tactical stock is 12.6oz heavier than the laminated stock.
It doesn’t sound like much but it certainly feels like there is more of a difference to me.
I guess it’s the way it’s proportioned.
Anyway, I really like the tactical stock on these guns. While it’s a bit heavy shooting offhand it’s great on the bench.
The quality and accuracy make my Veteran long a keeper for sure.

Do the tactical stocks fit AR or AK grips?
I should mention that it accepts flat top AR grips, but only with a M6-1.0x25 if I recall correctly (sold separately). The screw that it comes with is vertical and different (see attached)

by any chance does this look like an AK grip screw? Sorry unfamiliar w/ powder burners as I only own airguns.
