Taipan Veteran Tactical

I was going to purchase a Taipan Veteran until I saw this on their facebook webpage. Looks like they are coming out with a tactical stock version with 3 variations of attachments options and should be available in couple of months. Kind of disappointed that its still rear cocking but looks cool and added more function.

I will definitely will be buying the tactical stock.

As for the cocking lever, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I've never had a forward cocking bullpup, if I did maybe it would spoil me. The rear cocking of the taipan has never been an issue for me. When I had my FX crown, I would shoot 100 shots and it seemed to go by too fast. Same thing happens with the taipan. The rearward cocking doesn't slow me down.

And they moved the cocking lever to...the exact same spot it has always been!

Why is everyone so bent on changing something that works absolutely perfectly

Perfect for you maybe but clearly not for many others. If "everyone" is asking for it, maybe there just might be a good reason behind it?

I gave in a tried the Taipans last year...decent guns but the rear cocking was definitely a drawback. There are a lot of Taipans fans for sure and most seem to tolerate the rear cocking lever because of the Taipan's other good qualities. You don't see many people who love it or have that as their preferred cocking position if they could design the rifle from scratch. Don't tell me that you wouldn't move the lever forward on your Veteran if you could.

In the end, I sold off all 5 Veterans I had because they'd have to be so much better than anything else in the market for me to settle for a less than ideal cocking position...and they were not. There are a plenty of alternatives available that perform just as well or better but with a better, forward cocking position.

Where the Taipans do win out is in value as they are priced about $200-$400 lower than most comparable rifles.

I would not move the cocking lever forward, the gun is perfect in every way.

Alrighty then...congrats, you're literally the first person I've met that has found the perfect gun. So I guess you'll never need to buy any other gun, ever...while the rest of us continue our search for that elusive beast.

It is the perfect gun.

I have 4 not for sale never crickets..I like them exactly the way they are....but if I tell you that I didn't like better the cocking of the uragan I be a liar .. and even that I'm not a fx fan n i will never own one .. the cocking system in the impact.. is the best by far that any other gun on the market...period..the ability to cocking the gun with only a move of the wrist n a finger that another complete diferent ball game..if the fx impact was easy to fix by the average Joe. And it came with only 10 easy to change orings..we would not be having this topic..
