Taipan veteran. The tank of all airguns…..except the anti double load feature?

Just received my used veteran I purchased here from the classifieds. The title is a little click baity, but I need the die hard vet fans help.

As soon as I recieved it, I checked operation, and the anti double load feature doesn’t work. I scoped the gun, shot it, and it shoots flawlessly, but the anti double feed doesn’t work. The magazine cycles every time, whether I’ve taken a shot or not.

Is this an easy fix? Or is there something more sinister involved?
I know the rifle has been taken apart, but we’ve all done that. Just hoping it’s not missing something, or something is broken.

Any help is appreciated

Tuning - Taipan Veteran will not cycle magazine

Hello, Ive got my taipan veteran that will not cycle the magazine after firing. Anyone else had this ? quick fix? Had this veteran for a coule of years now and it was flawless till now.

I know different than what youre experiencing, but hopefully some info in here can help. I wish I could.

Only had one VET come across the work bench with a similar issue, In carefully taking the mechanism out and trying to figure out the LITTLE catch pawl & rack that senses the cocking cycle was ABLE to fiddle & fart around with it NOT having any success. It is similar to a small movement of a watch containing some very small parts and little springs all strategically placed. Going into it NOT for the faint of mechanical skills :cautious:

In the end, customer decided to leave it be and just pays attention to action being cocked !!

Well this is a bummer coming from you. I was actually hoping you’d chime in with your vast taipan knowledge.

I’m no stranger to mechanical workings. In fact, after I typed this thread, I dug into it to see its inner workings. It’s not “too” terribly complicated, but my problem seems to be rested to whatever pushes on that panel to stop the upper piece from moving until fired. It’s not moving out as it should. I wish my explaining skills were better than my mechanical skills, but alas. Here we are.
I didn’t find anything wrong internally, and put it back together oring for the best. Still no dice. It still cocks fine. But won’t stop the mag from moving. Bummer!

One of mine did this at one point, of course after I had pulled the top of the breech off for probe access. I was able to get it functioning correctly by simply flicking (gently) the mechanism to the opposite side of where it was. Bolted the top of the breech back on and functions perfectly now.

I concluded that the pawl was out of time, and manually cycling it got it timed back up to work correctly.

I agree, pretty complicated little mechanism. I wasn't 100% sure that my flicking the pawl was what fixed it, but that's all I did and it worked after, and wasn't working before.

You may already be aware but if not you can click on the CC and tell it to give you English subtitles. Translation is pretty close to what he's saying, close enough to be helpful.

Update 2,
I took it apart again, and made sure the pin was all the way flush with the top of the bar (excuse my lack of proper terminology), and what? It’s fixed. No movement of the mag at all.
put 2 mags through it testing the anti double load feature every couple of rounds, and it operates flawlessly.
thankyou all for helping me fix this problem. This is the reason I’m part of this great forum!

@madeintheuk To be clear, adjusting and aligning the pin referenced in the video remedied the issue of repairing the anti-double load mechanism? Glad you were able to sort this out. Pretty sure you won’t be the last member or reader to encounter this issue. Threads like this further impress upon me the build quality of the Veteran and their constituent parts. Thanks for sharing.
