Take back the night...Long range night shooting!

Something I have wanted to do for so long, As shooting at night the dynamics change hugely...But some tests do need that still of the night. So cool, My weekend is booked!! Ha ha. So I re-zeroed on the Eagle Vision Scope Mounts at 100 yards this time as I'm doing a long range test on the low power .177 how far will it go out and still be accurate and consistent. 180 yards so far! My hot shots are 12.4 ftb so low power... massive shot count and huge fun with that good dollop of challenge..So after a tweak and re-zero the Element Optic Titan was back in optical centre. Top right was my point of aim for the tweak and dope. I had been running the turret to close to max..Not good for any scope. I shot a couple of Mike's cards (Thanks Mike!) And a fly target for a sighter for the last Centercut card.

This is just way cool... Alas the damp got into the cards and started to make a mess, so I packed in with a grin. But I've got some old sticky book film cover, which should do the trick....Any other suggestions on keeping out the damp would be most welcome...Silicon spay is on the list. Ha ha

That is super cool! I use to do that too except I don’t have anywhere near 180 yards. At night it seems to be the only time I can catch a break from the wind, fantastic shooting there!

Way cool qball! I've always switched to night viz as part of my (earn my keep so to speak) keep the bunnies off the crops. But I have a mile play ground as payment!!!! I'm only at 100 but i'm super keen to see if I can get right out there. The only issue is the temp, As that goes down so does your MOA...Well fall's off a cliff for me with this low power antic..Thanks dude, appreciate that! Super interesting at night with the cold and warm pockets of air...But no wind is a great bonus....But I try and shoot in all winds and conditions..Lol I shot my EBR Lockdown in 21 mph gusts!!! Great fun...Except I set my bench up in the van...Like shooting from a boat! Lol

Way cool set up Love it! Super nice group to boot! I wish I was next door to you as well! Lol Yeah real nice not having that night viz eye! Lol It's going to be super nice tonight! I've sprayed some targets with silicone to help keep that damp out. Fingers crossed! Shot an awesome card today out at 100 ready but the weather came in.

Thanks dude, Been a nightmare with this hammer creep....Im trying to score some good points for the low power club! Lol...Absolute belter the top left, then turn pants when the temp dropped and wind picked right up! Just back in from a super cool session....Alas the silicone was not that great!

So day two of this night antics...Way cool 3am I got off the trigger!! This session was at 100 again, but prone this time as I needed to run some test and be totally planted. 

Wow, I don't think I can get that any tighter!!! But best give it a go! Lol After a good couple of hours the silicone was no better really, I use file binding clear plastic for when It's raining and I shoot from the van. But the glare off them tonight made it even more difficult to see the impacts until a nice hole opens up! Go thru the cards later...Bed is calling after a top day and night!

Hahaha, thanks so much for the laugh this morning. Needed that.

I use 80# card stock and staple it to a section of cardboard. That way I can push the pellets in the holes and get a more accurate measurement. I saw someone over at GTA doing it, so I started it as well.

Had a funny frustrating session last night...Just could not sort it for the life of me...After 4 mags I Stuck the ATN on at around 1.30 am just see what's going on...As I was super keen to get back on it, I didn't notice the long grass in front as I lay prone...4 MOA + one way 7 another... Crazy deflection, Poor turrets got a winding...The best was this as bed was calling...Nice path of grass cut! Ha ha But out tonight as I have neglected the other children...The S410 and the wildcat are out to play this evening...I got some made 177 slugs from Russia to try out....ATN video see what there doing...Can we put up movie clips?

The funny night fun continues...With the grass fo par...I fashioned some legs on the easy set up target card stand, Just as well... when I set up the wildcat on a pod rear bag and my fist. Took a shot and heard a ding..Cool impact! So another 4 left to visit the first...I forgot how accurate this little thing is...My PB with it is a pheasant head shot at 91 yards...Crazy shot...Some bunnies were out at 118 tonight..But until i'm sure..So I hoofed up to see were the POI was...(100 again) The new legs saved the night of loads of hoofing ha ha, Nice group on the rear leg...Alas the book laminate never worked as it just curled up like a popadom..Ha ha So the trusted zero card came out.....

Very cool session, I went seated this time with a rear bag... For the last two with the impact I shoot over the crony to try and put impacts to velocity's... And sort this hammer creep issue...The cards I shot in the day with the top left smoker I captured over the crony..Well 90 shots. But I had a run of all the same velocity's...I had a sweet break in the wind and fired 5 in quick concession...But this evening I fired over the crony again after some internal tweaks and captured a smoking hot group on the go pro..Pulled a couple of shots but wow...This thing zings!!!! So just as a side note, I play quadrants on the react targets..2"x1" head of most small quarry!

The zip line in my picture is for my dog when I'm too lazy to stand out and wait for him to potty. He takes forever at times.

I have thought about a zip line for targets though. If a person could find some low cost 2 foot diameter plastic tubing and hang it from a zip line, you could have a nice shooting tunnel to block the wind?

Ha ha way cool, And big ones at that! Ha ha....Oh ok cool, What about a closed prone trench, You can get a good size tube say 2m long heavy duty flay flat plastic tubing...Put the pipe in the lay flat tubing and hay presto...One prone tunnel former made.....Each section you pull the pipe out say 1.5 and go again...Not sure on cost over effort but you can have a large section at the top end and have other runs of! ha ha
