I am fairly new to air rifles but not firearms. I have been shooting my Airacuda Max in .22 and enjoy it. I would like a .30 Cal for bigger game. Airgun Channel has convinced me that the would be a good choice. I have done a bit of research and I really like the following features: Bottle 4500 PSI air tank, supported by Hajimoto, upgradable, accurate, will shoot slugs if I want, and side lever. The weight is certainly a thing but it's not much heavier than the Airacuda. I would like to keep my budget under $800. I have looked at the Hatsan Blitz but I don't need semi or full auto and would rather have accuracy. I realize the M60b is in the same arena but I cannot find it in .30 cal, Am I missing anything?

Ok, here goes: Gauntlets are heavy, long, unwieldy and made from subpar materials.

I imagine that air gun channel tries to convince to anything a sponsor wants to keep him afloat.. lol.

There kinda new I guess. I'd say hatsan but today there's lighter weight ones that could be a plus. Most in the end are just china made revisions and rebranded . A pig changing it's makeup is still a pig under it all ( Buddha)

seen in several reviews that the stock on a Macavity is rather flimsy.

If you are a newbie, i'd stay clear of a semi or automatic. They're going to need service..better off with a single shot with a large magazine

Ya, that where you buy , you try, and hope it don't make you cry comes in play .
Not like your able to walk in a store and pick one up and get the feel of it first unless you go to aoa or Pa in person .
Your at the mercy of buy blindly on line and hope for the best .. lol

Wonder if Buck Rail would make a stock for the Macavity cause I've also heard that complaint but also heard it's accurate especially for the $.
Sounds like an Avenger review, stock is creaky but groups well. Got the BR stock. Don't have complaints.
I always laugh at the Gauntlet length. You could use that thing as a crutch. Make it a bullpup and people may be interested. But not at that weight

Well, I asked you guys to talk me out of it and you definitely have! This is a great community, thanks for your input. I like everything about the Macavity except the air supply. I would really like to have the option of upgrading. I think I will just keep saving up, buy a chronograph and tune my .22 and be patient.

Have patience, Umarex just came around to sidelever after giving up on the "rock crusher" bolt action. Light and short are next on the agenda, I hope, can't rush progress. WM

Online searches convinced Umarex Gauntlet was for me, three years back, never considering length and weight. Didn't know Airgun Nation at the time, wish I'd have asked like you did, was horrified at unboxing the 47-inch, 10-pound (scoped) behemoth. WM

Wes, at airgunarcheryfun, in Canada, sells M60B, not .35 but pretty sure .30. Here's my March 2024 Krale purchased M60B .35 ($605.) Old style, "remove-bottle-to-fill," system was all they had in .35, Wes, sold (pictured) adapter collar, with installed male foster fitting, to me for $37. WM
