Airforce Talonp .25cal

This little gun never stops to impress me...is super accurate to 100 yards..super quiet with the carbine model with the moderator...zero recoil...super light..never brakes down built like a tank. And is putting out power equivalent to a .30 cal and it only has a 12 inch barrel..here is some chronograph numbers, teether, zero wind as is indoors, and 70 degrees temperature, with 43.2 pellet. Perfect for any first timers into pcp.

Love my .25 talon P. It is perfect for what it is. Got to get out there - there's a little thaw here and I am getting the itch
My range is my back yard and I shoot right off my bedroom window so nothing stops me lol I put a peace of 2x6 where there targets are are im getting pass through with the talonp not all the shots but some are put a coyote down easily or dial it down to about 25 fpe and get 20 plus shots on one fill. My first pcp and now I have 6 pcp's and still talonp makes me smile man every time I shoot it

That is on the high end for what I would expect out of that gun - is this a recent model or an older one?

Ithink i was getting mid 60's with 48 grain BBT slugs and MP molds .25s but i don't think i was near the highest hammer preload.

I ended up putting an 18 inch barrel on it. It really is the perfect first PCP (it was mine).
Is about a year and half old so idk if it's a newer model or not... ok so here is what I have found out you will get more speed and more fpe from pellets than with slugs..im assuming slug have more barrel friction so it slows down the slug coming off the barrel more.. I get about mid 60's fpe with the hn slugs 46 gr now when I use heavy 43 gr pellets is the numbers u seeing on paper

Makes sense. Can't wait to get mine out

I think it's looking like a good 10th PCP too. I am thinking this is the one I will be putting behind my rear truck seat, and just leave it there. It's just small enough, and has just enough power and capacity to be really useful. No regulator, so no creep, as long as the pressure is in the zone first shot hits. I am just wondering if I should go with the big can on the end or put a TalonSS shroud on it. I need to read more peoples thoughts on that.

The ss shroud has a pretty nice set of baffles, and I think it comes with (or you can get at least) a vented front bushing so there's a good amount of internal volume available to expand into. It may or may not give you the level of sound reduction that you need depending on your shooting power and situation - there's too many variables but I think the ss shroud is a great way to go for most circumstances.

basically a built in can, rock solid nothing to screw on or screw off or have alignment issues - I think it achieves the sound control of something that would be much larger if you were screwing it on to an adapter - keep it compact and rock solid. Very much in line with the utility gun ideal - you could pretty much treat it like a shovel.

I played around swapping bottles/valves between one gun with the -P can and another TalonSS with the Sound-loc baffles, so same power (in this case only 35 fpe) but different moderation: the SS with Sound-loc was noticeably quieter, "backyard quiet". The -P can was like the 12" barrel in an 18" frame without the baffles but with the end-cap, maybe side of the road with your truck running quiet but not backyard quiet. At low power, like under 20 fpe the can is quiet but I think it just gets overloaded above that. At the power levels above, I might want BOTH baffles and the can!

The ss frame also accommodates an 18" barrel nicely if I recall (if you remove the baffles) so like all Air Force guns it will forever tempt you to try swapping out one more part. An 18 inch barrel in an SS frame makes a sweet carbine when noise is less of a concern.

It is a rabbit hole because of course that would leave you with a 12 inch barrel. You could keep it as a spare but with a couple of secondhand parts and maybe a new one or two you could also build another base talon P for so little compared to an FX that you'd be a fool to even give it a second thought. Works really well with the spouse / lie detector because you also technically have never really bought another gun you just accumulate parts until presto, you have multiple Air Force guns. If you're patient you can drain the bank account slowly over time and stay under the radar until you get to the point where you are ready to feel for yourself what happens when you stick a Noble valve in one with the hardware to support it). I am pretty sure the rabbit hole goes deeper but I haven't gotten down there

(that's meant humorously if it's not obvious but to some degree it's a path I followed helped along by somebody giving me a whole bunch of parts for cheap).

My $100 .22 Talon SS is now a $800 Talon SS. Only original parts left are the frame and power wheel. Trajectron, Acecare, Huben Power and Pyramyd have all gladly facilitated and taken my money.

Crank the air pressure to 3000 psi and the power wheel to 10 and a 25.4gr pellet will go out at 1100FPS and around 95J/70FPE.

Or run 1800psi and 850FPS for hours of plinking and pesting.

Are you doing that with the 12" barrel? If so that is very impressive.

I have h&n baracudas 30 grainers I'll chrono those see what results I'll get

I have my Escape UL with .25 cal barrel tuned to shoot Baracudas at 60+ ft lbs for 10 shots from 2300 psi to 1800 psi. Hand pumping is not too bad at those pressures, and my buddy tank can refill the rifle twice in the field, or I can hook it up to the compressor if I'm in a hurry.
Exactly the performance I'm looking for, I just want it to be as short as possible, with some sound suppression. I want to stick it behind the rear seat of a Tacoma, and there isn't that much room for anything much bigger than a TalonP, besides an actual pistol.
