TalonP Carbine 25 & Slugs

Currently having trouble with slugs. with JSP diabolo king, heavy, exact, blah, blah, blah the gun shoots well, but with slugs, the gun shoots way left to the point where I exhaust my windage. I’ve tried both Nielsen, slugs, and H&N grizzlies, and all of them shoot way left. What would cause this? JSB I believe are 34 grain but the Nielsen‘s are 38 and the grizzlies are 31 gr.

Any idea how fast you are shooting them? Weird that they always veer left.

Not sure but they’re at all the same settings on the power wheel-weight doesn’t seem to matter since the grizzlies are lighter than the jsb heavies. I’ve seen people on YouTube with no issues shooting slugs. Maybe I’ll try the brands they’re using which i think are altros-i also just purchased AVS boat tails-boat tails work well in my Texan 457

Still having same problems with 42gr Avs boat tails-i’ve even tried to use fully adjustable scope mounts to help dial in, and although they help w/my left flying slugs, it does little in the way of consistency. I guess my particular talon does not like slugs. The jsb diabolo exact king heavies are the heaviest pellets it can accurately shoot so far

Try fx hybrids. They are the old Rat snipers which shoot great in the Talon P.

I will try, but at the end of the day I think it’s just my Talon that doesn’t like slugs. All of them shoot really left and very inconsistent compared to the JSB. I don’t know why. I have multiple high-end PCPs, but I’m fixated on this one because it’s the worst one as far as accuracy, but it’s also my favorite-go figure as it is light and compact. I’m starting to think I got a dud

Finally figured out the problem. The stock moderator that came with the talon P was clipping. I changed to a DonnyFl Ronin 25/30 this thing shoots every pellet or slug well now from 25gr Jsb Diabolo to Avs Slug 46gr-so relieved at resolving this-was even able to hit a clay target 50yds out which is good for me-these shots here were only 25 yards

I love my TalonP. It is a sleeper in the airgun world. Headshooting squirrels out to 40yards is no problem. I liked the tip about the FX slugs. I have some and will definitely try them out. I have also encountered the clipping problem. That can sure do some funny stuff for such a simple thing. I added a drop down adapter and carbon fiber tank to mine. It increased my shot count by 100%.

The tank is just a standard 480cc carbon fiber. This gives the right spacing from the shoulder and doesn't require a butt pad. The drop down adapter comes from Talon Tunes. I tried those FX slugs yesterday, They are pretty tight in the bore. My TalonP didn't care for them. Getting my best accuracy from H&N Baracuda Hunters. Gun power set on 8 gives me 800 to 840 fps. These pellets are cheap and available.

Try the slugs with the moderator off. 3 shot group. Trial and error.
