I have been thinking about getting the sideshot. Does it affect how well you can see through your scope?

Not at all. Most cameras on phones now record in 1080 and the videos look great. The only down side of using your phone is there isn't a HDMI port so you can see your actual reticle on another monitor like you can on a side shot with a video camera.
