Tuning Teardown for the Gen I .22

A couple of months ago I bought a used gauge port HUMA regulator for the Marauder.

I put it in the .22 and, until I put the new scope on yesterday, I never fooled with it.

I filled the rifle and started shooting. The gun came off of the regulator at shot #22 clearly indicating it needs a re-build (I have the kits.)

Today I took the rifle completely apart to get the gauge port regulator out because I did not tie a string on to it when I installed it.

Thus, the trigger group and valve also had to come out to come out so I could push the regulator forward out of the air tube…

After I put in the original gauge block with gauge, valve and fill port, I put 2000psi in the tube to check for leaks.

The tube emptied in less than one minute indicating I must have clipped an o-ring putting everything back together.

I could feel air around the velocity port so I guessed it was the large o-ring on the valve.

Out the valve came and a new o-ring put on with silicone grease.

Aired up again to 3000psi…

After 30 minutes, it was till at 3000psi so I put the gun back together.

I will rebuild the HUMA regulator some day but not today.

I want to thank Scott (motorhead) for his excellent instruction over the years of my owning Marauders.

Without his tutelage I could have never done it myself and, this time I didn’t have to drive 100 miles or buy any baked goods…
