Testing info on 20 different lubricants

This is an old thread but I thought I should add some updates:

Strike Hold is the best firearm cleaner I've ever used and its all I use on my carry pistols as it leaves a dry film that lint and dust don't attract to like wet CLP products. It takes a day or two to dry on the pellets but can be used wet with similar results. Having said that I have now since switched to an aerosol Beeswax polish on my pellet rifles. It dries in a few hours, leaves the barrel cleaner longer and a couple dry patches pulled through is all it takes to restore any accuracy loss you think you may have had. I buy the Beeswax polish from Annie's on-line.

This product was suggested to me by another forum member here and I am very happy with its performance and accuracy. I don't have the Brocock anymore so I can't run a similar test that we could compare to the previous results. I generally clean my pellets first with Acetone which dries quickly and then apply the Beeswax polish. My process for applying it is to spray some Beeswax polish on an old strip of T shirt material, drop a hand full of pellets onto the cloth, hold each end of the cloth and tumble back and forth rolling the pellets in the polish. Dump them out to dry and your done. It seems like the barrel is self cleaning and only takes 1 or 2 dry patches to clean the bore.

After I clean the barrel I pull a couple wet patches of Beeswax polish through the barrel to wax the bore and allow that to dry before my next shooting session.

I tried your pellet cleaning/lube technique today. It amazes me how much more debris comes off the pellets using acetone rather than the Dawn method. And I was out shopping for that beeswax spray. I started off with a hobby store, and they referred me to a grocery store in the home improvement section. Sure enough, they had a couple rows of it, and it cost less than $11. Next step is to clean the barrel before I try the lubed pellets.

And speaking of cleaning tutorials, Mountain Airports dropped a new barrel cleaning vid that was pretty interesting.

I'm new here but not new to the gun shooting community in general. I use this stuff called "Shooter Lube" lol I know the naming sounds funny. But this actually works. I'm not affiliated with them or anything. I used it on my AR-15's, AR pistols and handguns. They work great and you won't need much to clean your weapons.

Here's a video on youtube that pretty much sums it up what it can do. Hope this helps you guys looking for options. Also, the company is US military veteran-owned.

I use fp 10 to oil my pellets, Been getting crazy good groups cleaning my crossman hollows 22 6 dollars for 500 on amazon Im always shooting this avenger bullpup just pumping it but compressor coming. Look at the amount of shavings from factory when I used some dish soap an washed em around with my hands lightly an swirling em for a couple mins poured em into a sieve here is a pic, after washing them I take em to the shower where the shower head has a bit of pressure so for a few mins I shoot the jet while moving em around in the sieve removing the rest of the shavings if any are stuck in the skirt, After I do this I dry em an oil em using a old cotton tshirt I cut into a rectangle an drizzled fp over it evenly I grap 2 corners of it in each hand an just go up an down an they move around in the rag oiling all the sides evenly for a minute or so, After I really feel like I get a primium feeling pellet like theyr all nice no debree oiled up slip in my carm mag so easily past the lip cuz of the oil and I believe it creates less friction in the barrel as it rides down the rifling I mean Im hitting a group of pinecones about 3.5 inches clump 3 times in a row at 146 yards with these .22 14.3 grain crossmans tuned in such cheap shooting pellets really feel a bit more premium after the wash an the oil. See you guys talking about using slick 50 I aint heard a that is it better than fp10? I know fp10 lubricates good metal on metal.

Check the amount of dust/shavings from the crossman primier hollows .22

Awesome idea for testing! I can say I still continue to be surprised by the lubricity of FP10. That stuff is SLIPPERY! Interested to see further results. 😎
I know right fp 10 is so slippery, I notice its even also easier with lubed pellets to push the probe forward seating the pellet into the barrel as there is noticeably less friction.

why acetone and why not alcohol? I'm going to assume to thin it a bit.
In my experience, acetone evaporates faster than denatured alcohol. I was trying a concoction of 1 part kerosene to 1 part acetone to clean a tin of pellets. (first two chemicals in Hoppe's #9 is kerosene and alcohol). The Kerosene really slowed down the dry time.

My previous time cleaning pellets I strictly used acetone. Its a very aggressive degreaser, and effective in my experience.

My gun's accuracy is degrading some, so my next project today is to clean the bore. I was contemplating using straight acetone, but I think it will mess up the breech O-ring.

Well I just use some dish soap an fp10 to lube em I just hit the same pinecone twice and the next one twice an said out loud damn this thing has precision no misses thats like 1.5 inch group at 90 yards with crossmans off my av bullpup so I kno im doing something right.
