Texan carbine/horrible accuracy

you will never get any where near all the lead out running patches in a slotted holder, you need mechanical cleaning with the solvent. @Reedmosser told you how bad his was, mine was much worse than his. It took me almost a week to clean my new Texan, shipped straight from airforce as a replacement for the first one I got that would not fire at all. I worked on mine a minimum of 3 times a day, first day I used an entire bag of 200 one inch square patches and the last one didn't really look any better than the first. I using very tight patches on a jag, a very stiff bore brush, and lead away cloth on a jag that was extremely tight pushing down bore.

I eventually got mine working right, but in the process you better believe I voided any/all warranty, but I already had some testy phone calls with airforce, both on the first one not working out of the box, and on the second one being a POS and just didn't want to deal with them any more. My advice would be to send it back and save yourself some grief.

I found in an old email I never sent to airforce a picture of the patches from the last cleaning on the third day of cleaning, and the first patch pushed through bore on the 4th day. The 4th day was the first sign of rust coming out. I really should have just demanded my money back and stuck my heals in the ground on it,, but I continued.

Return for another Airforce or move to another brand?

Return for another Airforce or move to another brand?
I'm too personally pissed off over 3 years later to say anything not clouded 100% by that. There are plenty of people happy with their airforce pcp, I personally will never touch another airforce product ever. Assume I just filled two pages with my rant on the phone calls I had with them......

What are the different slugs you’ve tried in it? Have you only tried one weight of slug in it?
If you have tried it in a lead sled with another scope and with a variety of different slugs and can’t get better than 6” at 65 yards then I’d say return it. I love mine in .457 and have had zero issues with it in the several years I’ve had it.
Edit* I just went to NSA to see what the reviews were for the .50 slugs… and there were no reviews available on them. Mr. Hollowpoint may be making slugs for the Texan in that caliber that are proven performers. I don’t have firsthand knowledge of the Texan in .50 to go from.
I’d certainly search for other ammo to try before I sent it back to Airforce. Use the downtime to clean the barrel and such.

I agree i will never buy another airforce rifle, had a LSS .50 and a .308 and the accuracy was terrible with any ammo I shot so needless to say they are both gone now and will never own one again

Hate to brush the barrel and void a return.

The next question is who sells a good distant rifle? All AEA stuff seems just ok..
Extreme big bore air rifles, bushbuck.. I shoot at 100yds and less and only use pellets, don’t mess with big bores any more, no use for them here in Pa since all we can hunt here legally is small game and coyotes and restricted to only using .177 and .22 cal

Cleaning an Airforce barrel voids a return? I’m not aware of that policy. I own a .22/.25 Condor and the .457 Texan. (Never had an issue from them.) My brother is also an Airforce owner and he has used Airforce’s warranty with no issues whatsoever when he had a leaking valve and guage on his Condor SS. Both issues he had were resolved quickly and no questions asked.
It seems the actual solution you are looking for is to send it in for a return. And if you originally bought the .50 Texan primarily for coyotes then you definitely didn’t pick the best choice for economical use anyway.
As others have suggested already, a .30 is the ticket for coyotes. I like to use a .30 Evol for everything smaller than a deer actually. Much cheaper using .30 ammo than trying to feed a .510 Texan a steady diet.

Economically speaking very true. I wanted a gun I could hunt deer in Missouri and coyote.

I.don't know what is reliable in big bores. I'd probably say bushbuck or extreme big bores but I have no personal experience with either. I went with the Texan because of reliability and warranty, it has failed on both those fronts. My Texan 50 works now but it took alot of work !!!
How far are you shooting the .50?
