Texan carbine/horrible accuracy

Light reflections can make things look like they aren't. But, if that is actual crown damage don't accept it, don't try to fix it, just send it back on their dime. If crown really looks that bad, a trained monkey could do better.

I opened your pic in another window and it is much bigger, this is just the crown area from that much larger pic.

Yes the crown.sucks. but something I learned in the airgun world is most manufactures just chop the barrel off on bandsaw and there you go. Shooting powder burners and working in barrel factory I've crowned slot of barrels. Yes its important. With airgun s seems like the crown isn't quite as crucial as powder burners. Maybe less pressure . its easy to crown the barrel but I'd say what you can't see inside the barrel is most of your problem.

Maybe this is a.good thing a.visual imperfection that Airforce cannot deny. Your barrel is definitely poop like mine. So chances are the next barrel shouldn't be worse. At a minimum your barrel with need crowned and than lapped either by hand or fire lapped on slugs. starting at 120 grit. To get any kind of decent repeatable accuracy. If you go the warranty route I hope you have better luck than me. I would only send them the barrel. Shipping is expensive for the whole Texan $75.00 that you don't get back. Here to help anyway I can

My .457 long cf was inaccurate when I first got it.
I figured out I was holding it to tight. It was very hold sensitive.
Snug against my shoulder and loose everywhere else.
On a bipod vs resting on something to shoot yielded diffrent results also

Resting and free standing point of impact is the same for me.On a bipod she prints tight groups with only certain ammo choices.

On 3600 psi at 100% hammer tension and 350 grain leads is what it likes
Without a hammer spring adjustment for 220-250 grain lead I need to drop my fill pressure to 3000 psi and my first 4 shots are a tight group.

If I stay at 3600 with 100% hammer and use 220 grain ammo the gun fires them with no issues but the first 3 shots are all over the target.
My point is it will take alot of experimenting with pressure, bullet weight and holds.
I got mine figured out at about 200 rounds.

One thing I did notice is that the barrel end cap has alot of play in it.
I carbon fiber sleeved mine and made a snug fitting end cap.
Improved my groups alot.
Can you refer me to a source for your CF barrel sleeve?

I agree i will never buy another airforce rifle, had a LSS .50 and a .308 and the accuracy was terrible with any ammo I shot so needless to say they are both gone now and will never own one again
I thought I was the only person who's had a negative interaction with AF, based on the responses I've seen from fanboys when I made any kind of derogatory, but 100% accurate, statement about my new rifles. I told "Ton (??)" that if they were any more unacceptable I'd turn them into tomato stakes. He sent me an angry face. Wow.

Mine only started grouping well after I went over 350 grains with a charge of 250 bar. I'm not tethered, but I am refilling to 250 after every shot when I shoot groups. Here's a couple of pictures for reference. Bear in mind that the triggers in BOTH of these rifles suck big time. It takes me 3 breaths to break one shot off the bench. If your trigger sucks too, you really have to focus on breaking a clean shot with good follow through to get good groups.

Tj Reaper looks like you have the most accurate 50 Airforce ever made!!! The online videos for Airforce Texans sent to content promoters don't have the same poopty barrels they send out to customers. My 50 breaks a lot and I had the worst experience ever with Airforce warranty. Any bad comments on Airforce and you get alot.negative comments. Airforce is way too expensive for the product you actually get. My front forearm when new was loose...The screw was too long and they didn't take the time to grind it down so it was tight. The barrel horrible only accurate if you clean every 4 shots. 1 fouling 3 semi accurate. $1300.00 and they don't even have a stock.....really... 300 lbs of Lead down my 50 and multiple repairs... No they are not reliable like people think my 2 cents

When I began posting about my 2 new (old stock) Texans and the issues they have I was accosted by fanboys. I'm going to use these rifles as the basis for two custom builds, so the warranty will go a no-go immediately. I'll source my parts from other vendors and, if I have to deal with AF directly, I've been provided the name of a go-to lady who (I'm told) provides excellent customer service. I may make a separate post and copy and paste the FB Messenger interaction I had with their marketing person. I think I hurt his feelings....he sent me an angry face.

Amazon.
I measured the barrel o.d. and searched for 18mm carbon fiber tubing.
Dug around alot and ended up searching for 22mm and found a 22mm o.d. with 18mm i.d. x 500mm long.......it was eaiser to find tube by the o.d.
How tight of a fit was the 18 mm ID tube? Was it a press fit or did you epoxy it onto the barrel? Or...?
