I still love my Taipan Veteran .25 Long for the occasional nocturnal-raiding coon. However, these two .177 calibers -- Taipan Vet. ---> 28 fpe and EDgun R5M (Huma regulated with power plenum) ---> 31 fpe -- take care of any bird-feeder-raiding, pest squirrel on my 40 yards of fenced turf.

However, I do have it on good authority that a well-equipped challenger in .22 cal (HP) is en route as I speak.😉

Nice. Hey his reminds me -- I've a veteran supposed to be showing up via UPS tomorrow. I ordered up a new scope but (duh!) forgot to get a set of rings. The veteran with the "raised" pic rail, and already set for 20moa -- standard height rings good enough? On one of my guns I have a set of FX no limits, and on another one just some cheapie medium height rings. I can't really tell based on the picture but your rings don't appear to be particularly high. Just curious - thanks.

You're gonna luv that Vet. Congrats!

Did you choose a laminate?

Please post pix.

As to those scope rings: Just some misc. I picked up off my work bench.

One of my shooting buddies (Rallyshark) who posts mostly over at GTA modified a 177 cal Hatsan flashpup that I will put money on. It's modded to the point where it's only a Hatsan in name. He added a LW polygon barrel, a larger cylinder and completely rebuilt the valve system. It shoots NSA 16 grain slugs well over 1000 fps. The last time we were out shooting he hit a Gatorade bottle 5 out of 7 times at 276 yards. And it's so quiet it sound like it's broken. He had it shooting 52 fpe with 24 gr NSA but discovered that it shot the 17 gr better.

WOW!

That gun reminds me of the 17 HMaiR that Tofazfou built a few years ago.

Yep those Hatsan's will put out some power. I've got a regular Flash. Did some porting and valve work (all hand tools) and it's up to 915 with the 16.2 JSB's. I'm just waiting for Nielsen to start putting out the lower cost slugs.
