The 2 Components of Precision BR in pictures.

When many people see precision BR setups, they don’t really understand the challenges of the game.

This picture shows the 2 main challenges pretty well.

The first challenge is to get your equipment in order so it’s as accurate, predictable in the wind, and reliable as possible. No small feat. The left picture is a 25 shot group at 50y with only a center hold. This illustrates how a good setup should move in the wind. No unusual ups or downs….just a nice horizontal band.

The second challenge is to read your wind flags to determine the amount and placement of hold necessary to put your shot in the middle. The right picture is 25 shots in the same conditions holding off for the wind based on flag positions.

Nobody attains good scores with only one of the two components.

Those are awesome 25 shot groups at 50 yards... Humbling to say the least... 25 shots on the same target is a lot! Great shooting and wind calls.

Mike, What you said is precisely correct.
#8 looks like a 2350 on the ARA worst edge target and ~20x. Am I close? It's hard to tell at 5 o'clock.
I'll try to copy that with my 22LR unlimited Myers tomorrow.

Thanks…this was only about 1-5 mph wind. Lots more work when it gets heavier. Usually my held off groups don’t come out as well. Just outlining that there is plenty to do to shoot good scores off a rest with good equipment. I’ve heard the “How could you miss?” comment many times from people that don’t understand wind drift or the reality of what pellet guns are truly capable of…..when they see BR shot from rests.

Louie….I think it would be much lower than a 2350. Pellets make a pretty small hole in this heavy card stock. I hope you do well today.

This is more typical for 25 shots. Usually have a miss or two even in decent wind.

when people ask and i show pictures they sometimes say something to the effect " I can do that with my 10/22 " untill i show them a target in real life .

Thanks Mike, I've heard of scopes failing but I have not seen it. Until today. My Leupold 45X vertical adjustment failed so back to the factory it goes. It just got worse and worse. Louie….I would imagine your lower than normal scores would still equal that group.
