The $2000 dollar gun.

This post question is for the guys that own expensive airguns and anyone that just knows. If a man that is not rich was to have saved his money till he had $2000 , and was asking for advice , and even it's twice that much what air rifle would he buy , and oh yeah just for target shooting I can't kill animals anymore it's just not in my heart. Not competition either just a really nice well made dependable air rifle. What is the rifle you would have bought the first time if you knew.
Thanks for your advice.
# 1 Depends on what style of gun you like to hold and shoot . Do you like the FX look ? Maybe the Daystate Huntsman look ? #2 Where are you shooting ? basement ? , back yard (and how close is the neighbor ? ) #3 You can shoot any style gun at targets , bench ,freehand, bucket and sticks #4 what type targets , cans , bottle caps , very small dots on paper ? #4 Power versus distance ?
Just something to think about .

@OldVet Something Brocock/BRK or if you’re feeling fancy a Daystate Wolverine with a side lever. I’d want to catch a sale though.

Honestly, if you’re just target shooting with pellets. I’d suggest looking into a BRK Bantam Sniper XR. I have a Bantam Sniper HR (older version with a bolt action) and have really enjoyed this rifle. It is under $2000 new. I replaced a worn seal around the fill port and a regulator. In 3 years these are the only issues i can recall having to worry about fixing.

I've got a BRK bantam too, it's a .22. Great gun but at $2k, I'd be looking at a DRS.

I purchased a BRK Ghost Plus. Very nice rifle. I have it set for 22 fpe so I get about 250 shots per fill. I shoot 80 yards and under, cans and steel. Works great.
22-24fpe seems the sweet spot I normally go for... 250 shots on a fill. Wow. Not sure where my Impact is on shots per fill, but quite sure I'm not getting that.

Where did you get this info? I'm close to buying an Evo and I thought I read and watched everything that was out there on this product. This is the first I've heard of it.
I got it from owning one. If you have read the threads here, you would see it from quite a few others as well. Most just choose to accept it. A few have shared their experiences of sending it back because of it. One of the recent threads called it something like self venting or something.

It's more like $1500 than $2000 but I really like my Caiman X. It's a bullpup which I like including from the bench. Shoots both pellets and slugs accurately. I shot a 200 on the 30 yard challenge last year using unsorted 18 grain H&N Baracudas last year. Unique appearance but I like it. Air Maks has a unique pivoting hammer which helps make the action really short. Free floated barrel. Not many O-rings.

Dang, that's too bad. Like I said, I thought I had read everything here on the topic but I guess I missed that. Can't argue with personal experience though!

the Truth as I know it,there are many accurate air rifles, many do not cost over $1000,if shooting them less than 50 yards. The figure you have,is that just for the air rifle? Do need a good scope included?
I want a comfortable rifle, easy to aim, easy to hold ,easy to fill and get parts for.
I would go only USA or England brand,RAW or Brocock,I have a Daystate I like.
For short range accuracy from a no fiddle rifle I really like my newer model Challenger model Crosman,it is a PCP target rifle at around $700.it is easy to hand pump and nothing really can beat it at shorter distances.
I would get a Raw because I am old and like traditional styles.

It’s perfectly natural to only see what we want to see but I’ll back what @Smok3y is saying. Dealing with some leak issues myself.

That’s what makes a topic like this very interesting to watch. I can point my finger at known and documented issues with a lot of the guns suggested in this topic. But there are guns that just don’t have repair or issue topics started about them. So those are the only guns I’ll suggest when a guy is strapping himself for a one and done gun. For mad scientists, tinker grass is greener or bottomless wallet guys? Lots of guns to play around with.

There are still a few Manufacturers that I haven’t tried like the AAA And Taipan (still can’t believe I haven’t tried on of those!), but based on what I have and what meets your goals you listed…

I would pick a FX Crown MKII. I love the platform, and of many of the rifles I have tried, it would probably be the first I would go back to. The RAW would probably be 2nd. It has less to fiddle with, but also means it is more set it and forget it. I don’t care for bullpups as much, so I wouldn’t personally recommend one, and I have tried a lot.

I have owned other guns that I really liked, like the Red Wolf. There are brands that I liked, like Skout with the best customer service, but I would prefer not to have to use that service (Epoch was nice but the new leaky Evo that is considered normal is just a hassle).
Oh dang hadn’t heard that about the evos. My epoch has been money. Only had to replace the little oring inside the on off once.
