The $2000 dollar gun.

Here is a good deal. I've been wanting for some time , and now it's only 4.99.99 , or add a penny,Van's it's 500
Why do they do this anyway my favorite store has a Benjamin Akela in .22 cal for 500 minus the penny of course. Is that the right course. I don't know. Anyway I don't know how many they have , so good luck. It's at Natches , but it's under the spring clean sale.
An Akela for 499.99. My wife has the Credit card she said you don't even have a Compressor how would you air it up. Lol.

This post question is for the guys that own expensive airguns and anyone that just knows. If a man that is not rich was to have saved his money till he had $2000 , and was asking for advice , and even it's twice that much what air rifle would he buy , and oh yeah just for target shooting I can't kill animals anymore it's just not in my heart. Not competition either just a really nice well made dependable air rifle. What is the rifle you would have bought the first time if you knew.
Thanks for your advice.
I have Impacts and other rifles. My favorite is the Kalibrgun Cricket. That gun has never given me any problems. I can put it away for 6 months, pull it out of the closet and no leaks and still zero’d. Ragged one hole groups at 60 yards. Amazing. Mine is in .25 with the LW barrel. The .22’s had the CZ barrel. 860 fps with 33.9 gr JSB’s.
its a simple design, strongly built rifle with no bells and whistles and it just works. Try that with an Impact.

OldVet I didn't read through the whole thread but...
#1 what is the farthest you intend to shoot as well as the average distance?
#2 You don't plan on hunting so no need for the larger calibers, and basically just plinking, right??
#3 How often do you plan on filling your gun?
#4 Pellets, slugs, or both?
#5 single shot only or repeater.

What pcp's do you already own?

That's a big gap - $2000 "or twice that"??!!

As far as fun and fast I like my Steyr ProX semiauto the most for shooting steel. High quality, nice trigger, very reliable, surprisingly precise for what it is, about 70 shots per fill/22 cal/29 fpe, bullpup, 10 round removeable mags. It's my #1 plinker!

I like specialized equipment. Each gun I've chosen mainly for specific tasks though there is overlap.

For precision my Thomas's.

For power and slugs my V3 in 25 cal.

Etc

I had the cricket in .22 Great gun. Personally, I prefer the wildcat compact specially the m3 version because of the magazine and smother cocking arm. As for reliability and accuracy, it's a tossup.

I’m going through the same process, my TX200 is my only springer and looking for my only PCP.

So far the BRK Ghost is in the lead for reliability, accuracy, power, adjustability and caliber changes.

The Skout EVO is of interest but electronics long term I’m not so sure of and a new company that may fold.
I'm in a similar position as you, with an Evo and a Ghost on my short list. I'm not worried about the electronics at this point, and I think the benefits outweigh the risk. Also, Skout is a very well established company, they are just newish to air rifles.

I'm in the USA, and having a USA manufacturer with great support is a pretty big deal for me. Not because I'm super patriotic, but I think there will be a lot of practical value in it, especially with trade wars looming.

I’m all about supporting the US and why it is on my list but I’m sure the mechanical Ghost will be more reliable. I’ve seen the Skouts have issues and the company sent out parts the same day(amazing), reminds me of FX though, great warranty but it’s because you’ll need it. Maybe the newer EVO is better.

I'm waiting for a Settlement, and I did not want to waste my money , so I asked the guys here basically the ones that do have money if they could do it over again what would have they done.
So this was a great learning thread.
I learned a very dependable high end Bullpup is a Taipan 1. Other well made are Day state , RAW which is made in the USA. Right now I live in Tucson Az , and can shoot out to long distance just to see if I can it. Mostly shoot in my backyard though just 40 feet. I'm able to shoot everyday in my backyard, and go my friends house in Marana Az to shoot a 150 yards. I fill my gun when I have a working compressor. I'm putting together a fill station with a 6.8 liter tank. It will be nice to just turn a valve.
I love to shoot targets in my back yard.
I like to shoot both pellets , and I shoot .22 caliber 28 grain slugs with my Zelos with a 500 cc bottle on it
I own 2 1st gen Barra 1100Z's . I keep my rifles nice . I have some multi pumps ,and no brake barrels. I'm trying to learn what a good heirloom rifle would be you should read the whole thread it's great. No I'm not rich. I have friends who are. I said 2 to 4 k just to try to learn about the best. I think that is a Thomas. The pro x is indeed a beautiful bullpup. I answered all your questions now could post some pics of your pro x , and Thomas. OldVet wants to see. Thanks steve123 my name is also Steve.

Hi Steve.

It sounds like you can get to 150Y easily with your Zelos using those slugs. I've moved onto slugs for all my 48 fpe and up airguns.

Pellets, I personally like to keep them well within 100Y and nowadays would rather just use them in my 30 fpe and less guns.

A pcp I really enjoy for inside 50Y, well mostly shooting at reactive and closer in steel, is another Steyr which is my LGB1 Biathlon trainer in .177. It uses little 5 round stick mags and is only 6 fpe. The way it cocks is very unique and fast, faster than any non semi repeater I've shot so far. It's also very precise though not as precise as my Thomas's. Very reliable as well, great ergos, great trigger, lightweight, and gets 100 shots per fill. Such a neat and high quality gun which I never regretted buying!

When camping I was hitting flies on the rocks across the stream at 27Y with it and perhaps the most fun was trying to guess the wind right because that's the main challenge with 6 fpe.
I've shot this gun at 100Y, lol, and I can hit small objects as long as the wind is down but that was experimental and I've only done this a few times since I bought it more than a decade ago.

Being a semi the Steyr ProX is a tad more fun on steel.

The Thomas's are for FT and UFT. Purple Reign as I named it in rifle form is at 19.5 fpe and in pistol form at 11.5 fpe I named the Purp/perp, these/this are the same gun that I convert over.
SURELY with the walnut stock is for UFT or Benchrest and is at 48.5 fpe currently using 22 cal 32.3 grain Altaros slugs.

All of these are what I consider fairly specialized and high quality though a bit pricey. The funny thing is I'd sell all of them, or I should say each of them, if I thought I could get most of my money out of them to put that into replacing them with even higher realms of utility and hottness in the next best thing that suited my styles of what guns trip my trigger the most!
LGB1 on top and ProX on bottom.
