The Atomic goes nuclear... first kills

Took this little brute down to the farm and had a blast. Shot 15 critters, 10 starlings, 4 sparrows and a massive woodchuck. The birds were taken at ranges from 25 to 40 yards. The chuck was taken at 25 yards from atop that green bale. The Atomic XR is a murderous little platform, easy to carry and handle and definitely deadly on small game within 50 yards. I saw three chucks and got one, the others saw me first. But I'll be back. That high peak roof is where I snipe many of the birds and they fall onto the lower roof. Now I'm looking for a smaller scope for my Atomic. All taken sending Crosman Premier Domes at 725 fps. Ask you can see the cows where really impressed with the Atomic XR.

Luis, great shooting on those critters with your new Atomic! You sure that's a ghog and not a little grizzly bear!? LOL..boy it's BIG! Those cows are definitely fans of your new Atomic. You looking at the Athlon Helos BTR 3-16x42 FFP to put on the Atomic? There is also the Sightron 3-16x42 FFP MOA on sale at DVOR for 333 now....awesome little scope weighing in @ 24oz I believe, focuses down to 10yds, IR. Someone has the link in the scope section. Great photos!

Thank you gentlemen... @ranchibi, I spotted that little grizzly from 70 yards away with my binoculars. Put on a long stalk around the building in the left background. Then came up on it from behind those bales to 25 yards, and then I just glassed the hole until it presented a shot. Next time I'll also bring the Bantam Sniper. @Wall-e.T, that's a starling under that third cows nose.

@gerry52, thanks, the Atomic is a capable little walkabout rig. I'm smiling alright, but the ladies that own the property were smiling even more. They really want the birds dealt with because of the avian flu. They raise chickens and other fowl there and are worried about their livestock. They also want the chucks to be thinned out. I plan on going back real soon.

Great glassing and spot! Using the Bantam will not be fair....long range ghog sniping!

@L-Leon I didn’t even see the starling until you pointed it out. How would you say the consistency is concerning the accuracy of the Atomic within 40 yards? Do you feel confident in hitting close to your POA on a consistent basis within that range? Also, what sort of limitations have you discovered since you’ve been shooting this carbine?

@ezana4ce, it's limitations are only in how far out effective, consistent humane kills can be made while pesting. Like all platforms that's up to the shooter to decide. I have high confidence in this rig on pest birds and depending on conditions I will take it to 50 yards. For woodchucks 30-35 yards max for me. Check out these last three shots at 40 yards after I got back home.

That’s good to see. I’d be comfortable taking pests at 40 yards with a group like that. You seem to be pretty consistent with your groups too.
