The cold wet barrel :-(

Not sure if we are talking about the same thing, but I have a friend who keeps his rifles stored in an air-conditioned room. When he came out to shoot on a hot humid day, his whole rifle was covered in a layer of condensation...it must have been inside the barrel because there was a mist cloud the first time he fired. The rifle was a springer rifle, and it did shoot kinda funny for a couple of shots. After a few shots the condensation evaporated and the rifle was back to shooting in it's normal manner.
Now, if he knows he's shooting the next day, he'll leave his rifle in the garage overnight so it can acclimate.
Not sure if the same inaccuracies would occur with a PCP rifle as it did with the springer.
How did your barrel get wet?
Mike

I've heard it's best to put the rifle in a plastic bag before taking it out of the nice cool air conditioned room and then outside in the hot humidity. They say to let the rifle sit there in the bag for several minutes until it get's acclimated to the warmer temp. However, I have not personally tried this.
As for myself, I prefer to put the rifle in the hard case over night in the car or on the back porch if I know it's gonna be a scorcher the next day.
Who, am I kidding......I try not to even go outside when it's that hot in the first place ;-)
If I'm sweating.......I ain't shootin' !!!!!LOL

Well actually what i meant is that, after some shooting the barrel gets really cold from the air passing through it. Sometimes it feels cold enough that i feel it could ice up if i were to shoot pellets really fast.

I feel my rifle is getting less accurate when the barrel is really cold and condensated. In the summer it's not a big problem, but in the winter the barrel is always wet and very cold.

Maybe i'll try one of these :
